I was at the Highlands game and was impressed with #24. The Cooper roster shows that she is a senior. Not sure why she's not getting any credit and seems to be the only player with some height. Looks as if the interest is in the freshman and sophomore girls.

The Jags looked good early. Hailey Anderson scored 6 quick points and I believe Cooper led 16 to 7 at one point. Good to see Lexi Held back at 100% and Aisyah Mitchell plays her heart out. Cooper is taking baby steps to be able to compete with teams like the Birds. First half they looked good, but there lack of depth showed in the second half. Hopefully with 5 freshmen and 2 sophmores seeing alot of playing time it will pay off in the future. Good luck to the Birds the rest of the season.

It puzzles me how a school the size of Cooper doesn't have more girls playing. Looks like only a couple of upper classmen on the roster. What's up with that??

Until last year, they never had a strong coach. They did have 6 or so seniors last year.

Also, Cooper feeder schools such as Ockerman and Camp Ernst feed to both Boone and Ryle. For example, if an 8th grade basketball team at Camp Ernst kept 12 girls, 10 of them could go to Boone and 2 to Cooper.

Cooper plays in a district with the other Boone schools. Ryle and Boone have historically had very good programs which means it is going to take some time for Cooper to get competitive. Coach Levandusky probably has the best resume of any coach in the area as she played for Xavier and in the WNBA. Eventually, I believe folks in Union will appreciate her ability and talent will start showing up at Cooper.

What does "open district" mean? It is my understanding that in the Boone County School District you must attend the school designated to your home address. You cannot arbitrarily choose the school you want to go to. I have heard that it is primarily due to high student population at all four schools. I cannot speak for the coaches at Cooper but can only imagine that they CHOSE to come to Cooper to single handedly build a girls basketball program and in fact will. Most that have players on the Cooper team don't ask "why", they are just grateful "a coach" would "go there".

Unless you work as a Boone Co school employee in the school district, you cannot go to a different Boone Co HS. It's all based on where you live on the designated school map, period. No school of choice.
