Cooper 53 Walton Verona 47

Featured Replies

Ison for Walton played well but got 4 fouls early. Lexi Held played some with a broken finger, girl is tough. Anderson had 11 first half for Cooper and didnt hardly touch the ball the second half, finished with 14. Walton missed a ton of free throws thought it was the difference in the game.

Halftime score: Cooper 30-25. 3-pointers: W2 (Ison,Simpson); C1 (Tharpe)

Heard Walton missed quite a few lay-ups too. They need correct that and should be fine.

I think Walton is down from a few years back, but the coaching staff will get all out of the players they have. District and Region is much much easier than the 9th so anything could happen.

This was the worst I have seen Walton play in a long time. They missed way more free throws than they normally do, missed lay ups, dumb decisions, gave up easy baskets and had a higher number of unforced turnovers than they have had this year. Honestly, it was amazing that they were still in the game and tied with a couple minutes to go.

I mean this in humor....It looked like the ball they were using had been soaked in olive oil, then greased up some. They could not catch or hold onto anything. It also looked like they were seeing ghosts, passing it to somewhere that no one was standing. It was the craziest thing.

Hats off to Cooper if they caused all of that...but man it was crazy. Walton has played some quick, strong defending teams this year, and never had as many issues as they had last night. I guess just one of those nights.

I will add this...it was yet another game where a beautiful euro step move was called a walk. :angrybird2::banghead::irked::madman:

A good night of sleep and I am better. Congrats to Cooper on the win.

I think kids are flat right now from mid term stress, less sleep and less resistance to illness as a result. I wonder if coaches think about such things when scheduling?

I'm with you on the eurostep. So what are we supposed to do, coach our kids not to execute a legal move because officiating will not acknowledge it as such?

Good point on the stress possibility. It obviously is never an excuse because all kids from all schools have the same demands and stress, however it certainly could be a possibility as to why you see a "one step forward, two steps back" kind of night.

Any video of the Euro?

Any video of the Euro?

Yes. And I thought about posting some onto You Tube for opinions. But before I did, I thought it would be wise to be 100 percent sure of all the specifics from start to finish. Maybe there is something I am missing. If so, then it would be better to learn before posting a video. I know what I think, but what I think may be wrong. I'll have more questions in the other thread.

I know in football, KHSAA comes around and does a campus tour to update players and coaches on rule changes. Sounds like what we have here is an education problem that KHSAA needs to address. Inviting one official to comment on the call of another in a public forum may have unintended consequences. Suggest you deal with it in PMs.

Not very familiar with the 8th region teams, however I do know that Cooper was not up to par last night as a whole. They did, however hold tough and pull out the win although their starting point guard, Lexi Held only played half of the game AND with a broken finger. The turn overs that the Jags forced upon Walton certainly hurt the Bearcats. Anderson, Zingsheim and Bleska played tough and the Jags stayed steady for the victory. These two teams didn't face each other at all last year and would love to have a rematch with both teams primed, going with my heart here though

and confident the outcome would be the same.

No worries here. Already done the PM. :thumb:

Besides, I am not worried about what a ref calls or has called at this point. I am more concerned with the specifics, details and rules of legal layup.

Yes they hurt, as all turnovers do. The ones that the Jags did not force hurt even more.

I'm sure they can work their turnovers and become stronger. Good luck Bearcats in the 8th Region and congrats to Ison on"Player of the Week".
