Rank the Regions

Featured Replies

What's the criteria for ranking? A few teams at the Top and the 2nd is waaaaaay too low. Maybe they don't have the depth of the 11th and 7th top to bottom, but I'd bet that most years you could take their top 5 and give the top 5 from most other regions all they wanted and more.

It's going to vary year to year, but if you look at things over time, then I'd say:

7th

11th

6th

9th

2nd

4th

10th

12th

3rd

1st

8th

13th, 14th, 15th, 16th

I was thinking the criteria was ranking them in 2014.

....

Beyond the 7th at the top and the 9th behind them, you could argue a lot of scenarios.

At the same time I'm arguing that the 9th is even in the top 3 this season.

South Laurel is at best the 5-6 in the 13th. Clay, Corbin, Knox Central, and North Laurel are clearly ahead of them. And I would put Harlan county and Williamsburg above them as well.

I would have to think the second ahead of the 4th as Henderson County has beat both Warren Central and Bowling Green. Warren Central handily on the road. Hopkinsville is ranked in the top 10.Webster County is off to their best start in years. But would agree on your Top 5

My only concern with the second is if you look at their bottom 5-6 teams they are as weak as any region in the state. I would agree that their top tier teams are really good this year.

I checked some head to head scores and I'm not so sure the 4th Region is better then the 3rd this year as of 12-13-14. Bowling Green will play in the Owensboro Invitational Tourney over X-mas break so we'll know more.

I too was surprised by the South Laurel-West Jessamine score. Maybe they are better than you think. Look at your regional "top 4" team, North Laurel. Last 3 games: lost at home to Lafayette by 25 and squeaked one out at home against a bottom tier 11th region team in Madison Southern. They then played at #1 in the region, Clay, and lost by 1 point.

Another top 4 team, Knox Central, struggled to play with Boyle last night. By the way, 12th region top 4 team Lincoln County already beat Lafayette by about 15.

Knox Central was without Jeffrey Adams and lost their big man last night also. I'd say when they were expected to be second it was a full strength Knox Central team. They aren't full strength right now and I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall in the region rankings.

We won't have a good gauge on Mercer County and West Jessamine until next week when they meet up.
