Bishop Brossart 59 Knott County Central 45

Recommended Posts

Final from the J.T. Mulligan Classic held on Saturday at Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, Ky..

It took the Brossart Lady Stangs a while to get rolling, while producing only 5 first quarter tallies to trail 9-5 at the first quarter stop. The second stanza was a complete reversal of first quarter form, as the gals in green exploded for 29 points, to take a 34-24 advantage to the locker room at halftime.

The Lady Stangs pushed out to a 48-31 lead, before the Lady Patriots rallied while scoring 9 unanswered points, cutting the Lady Stangs lead to 49-40 and causing Coach Josh Feldmann to have flashbacks of being overtaken by St. Henry by leading as many as 13 in the third quarter.

But the Lady Stangs would hit their free-throws down the stretch while cashing in on the Lady Pats aggressive full-court defense, to score some easy baskets and hold the visitors from the mountains at bay. Final Score 59-45 Brossart as the Lady Stangs even their season ledger at 1-1 while giving their head coach his 93td career victory as our head coach.

The Lady Stangs were led by Junior Abby King who scored 20 points while pulling down 8 rebounds. Senior Emily Schultz added 12 and Junior guard Olivia Nienaber contributed 9.

Stacy Stamper knocked down four 3-pointers to lead the Lady Patriots with 12, while Kristen Waugh added 10.

The Lady Stangs will face a stiff challenge this coming Tuesday night when we travel to the City of Beautiful Homes for an NKAC Division II showdown with the Highlands Lady Birds.

Difference in game was at free throw line.Brossart shot 25 Knott Central 2( which were in the 1st 30 seconds of game). And really coach playing your starters the whole game, the last minute against Knott's 3rd string. Classy move.

Thought Emily was a Junior this year.

Congrats to Bishop Brossart.

BBHS Coach had just called a timeout under a pressure half-court situtation and was instructing the girls in the huddle when KCC substituted in their bench. I'm sure the Coach didn't realize the third string was in there (with not being familiar with the KCC players). It wasn't like playing Holy Cross and then the Twin Towers and guards are not on the court when you come out. Dont read too much into it....

That's funny, he knew....Coach Honeycutt put them in with a minute and 30 seconds to go

You stand by your coach...i'll stand by mine. He didn't see the bench was cleared and was giving instructions to his players. Don't read too much into it. I don't like watching keep-a-way in the last minute either...put in the subs and give them their opportunity to score and get their names in the paper. Could he have called a timeout with 45 seconds left and sub'd in....possibly....but i dont think it's that big of a deal.
