First Time NBA Fantasy Player

Featured Replies

If I had the #1 pick I'm taking LBJ for sure, but if you truly believe Davis will be the better fantasy player this year then that's what you should do. The goal of the #1 pick is to get the player you feel will be #1 that year --- unless you can grab said player later in the draft.

Then do it. It's your pick and you won't get Davis via the draft any other way. I know on Twitter you said trading picks wasn't allowed, but if you could work out a trade to happen post-draft with the #2 pick you could do it that way.

It's already done. Took Lebron, Davis needs to play a full season to earn that #1 spot.

I have #1 pick, do I go out on a limb and take Davis?

I wouldn't take AD #1 overall because the risk of injury is too high. On a "per minute" basis, AD's production may be greater than LBJ's; however, LBJ is so strong that his risk of injury is significantly less than AD's.

Plus, LBJ's numbers are absurd. The last two years, LBJ's FG% has been 56%. Let that sink in for a minute: 56% from the field & averaging about 17-18 shots per game. That's ridiculous.

Thanks to everyone for all of the advice.

I have an ESPN Insider account, so I'm using them for some cheat sheets.

Our games are weekly head-to-head.

Scoring Breakdown:

Points (PTS) -- 1

Blocks (BLK) -- 3

Steals (STL) -- 3

Assists (AST) -- 2

Offensive Rebounds (OREB) -- 2

Defensive Rebounds (DREB) -- 1.5

Ejections (EJ) -- -5

Technical Fouls (TF) -- -2

Turnovers (TO) -- -1

Field Goals Made (FGM) -- 1

Free Throws Made (FTM) -- 1

Three Pointers Made (3PM) -- 2

Field Goals Missed (FGMI) -- -0.5

Free Throws Missed (FTMI) -- -0.5

Three Pointers Missed (3PMI) -- -1

Double Doubles (DD) -- 3

Triple Doubles (TD) -- 7

-5 for ejections? That's stupid.

Rasheed Wallace's value just plummeted.

I think I went a little too crazy with the PG's (I used a list saying Lawson and someone else had eligibility at either guard slot). Don't have a ton of 3 point shooting, but love where I'm at in assists, steals, and rebounds.

Have one roster spot open due to Anthony Morrow's injury. I need a 3 point shooter, specifically someone who can do it from the SG/SF slots. Some guys on the waiver wire are: Otto Porter Jr., Nik Stauskas, Doug McDermott, Ben McLemore, Tim Hardaway Jr., Mario Chalmers, DeMarre Carroll, Corey Brewer, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Mo Harkless, Marcus Thorton, Rodney Hood, Shabazz Napier.

I know all of those guys don't really fit the bill of a 3 point shooter, but I also know a guy like Brewer could be valuable by doing lots of other things. My lineup is posted above. Who should I try to add (listed or not)?

I've always liked Marcus Thornton.

Corey Brewer had a few big games last year. Not sure if he's in the regular rotation this season or not.

Mario Chalmers is a worthwhile addition. He didn't score much with LBJ in town, but he's a good source of steals & assists.

Gotcha. I'm just already loaded down with PGs (have 6), so I think I'm more than ready for steals and assists. Someone who could be eligible at SG and SF would be ideal.

AD gonna go either triple double or at least 20 20 6.

Question: my league plays a 9 game schedule, with each game lasting 2 weeks. I have both Michael Carter-Williams and Jose Calderon, but only one IR spot. Should I drop one or them and pick up someone who can help me now or is that a bad move?

My team is deep at PG and I can possibly win my matchup without both, but it'd obviously be easier if I were getting at least some production from a spot that's giving me nothing right now.

Drop Calderon and pick up Perry Jones. Put MCW in IR.
