With Logan County out of playoff contention and the two teams moving into different 4A districts next year, this will be the last meeting of these two teams for quite some time. The two have never met when they weren't in the same district and the next round will be no different. There hasn't been any matchup even remotely resembling a close game between these two since Logan County's last win in the series back in 1998. The Dragons have won 7 straight in the series by an average of 43 PPG, and the only time the margin was under 40 was the laughable game in 2011 when Logan County left their starters in the game the entire second half against the backups and in some cases third stringers to lose by "just" 35. The Dragons have scored over 60 points in the last three meetings and over 49 in each of the last six. Central may have to press a bit to meet those lofty standards though, as their fast paced offense has yielded just a single result over 40 points this year, coming in their opening game against Hopkinsville (54-16).

 

The result of this game will never be in doubt and barring some truly miraculous upset across town, the Dragons will wrap up the #2 seed in the district. The only question is how high will the score go and how large a margin?

When was the only other Logan County victory (WC 11 and 2 all time with one LC victory in 1998). Just curious.

I just scratch my head when I think how far Logan County has fallen. As back in the day (say 1980s) I think they were at least competitive. Now they are likely one of the bottom 5 teams in the state.

Logan County won back to back in 1997 & 1998. They had basically their best two teams in school history that I'm aware of at that time. The 1998 team was the one that gave BG all they wanted in a 24-14 win in the playoffs.

 

It's incredible to think of given where these teams are now, but in 1998, Joe Hood's last season at WC, they were 2-1 heading into their final two district games needing to win just one to advance to the postseason. They had already beaten Owensboro and Warren East. They were playing Logan County, then Barren County. Who would ever think now (or heck THEN) that either of those teams would beat Warren Central, let alone both?
