hoss403 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Good win against a very good Central Hardin team.
Ham Bone Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 John Hardin has talent and look to be solid down the road. I saw this frosh squad give Male all they wanted a few weeks back. JH probably should have won that game. Hoss, did you go to the game? I wonder how did #10 and #3 play? These kids are the real deal

Number 10 is Anthony Witherspoon and he may well be the best athlete to ever come through JH. This is the first time he has played QB so he will only get better. I would love to see these kids play Male again. Male will be very good when their freshmen are upper classmen. Much like they are now.
Varneystone Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I watched the game from the Central Hardin side and must say that the offensive and defensive lines won the game for JH. #3 Steven Livers was great at cornerback and had some good runs on offense. Witherspoon is a work in progress at QB and he got hurt late in the 3rd quarter. He didn't return to the game, but hopefully he is okay.He was limping a bit, but still able to walk without assistance. #25 for JH had several good runs behind huge holes created by the offensive line. #12 for JH also took proper advantage of good blocking and scored on a great run. Not too many highlights from my side, as it seems we didn't respond well following the pounding we took on Saturday at the hands of St. X and their 96 players dressed for the game.

What was the score against St. X when you played them?
Ham Bone Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Male beat St. X Frosh 33-13 using 10 minute quarters. #3 Livers really impressed me the most. He is a quick, shifty runner. #25 is a bruiser with speed.

I notice #25 against Fairdale and that kid is huge and is going to be a bruiser the next 3 years.
Purple88 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Hoss, I am going to miss playing JH these next couple years. I know we will likely play in the Rafferty's Bowl a time or two, but it's not the same as playing the day after Thanksgiving with everything on the line and a 50/50 game.

It has become somewhat of a tradition with BG and JH playing the day after Thanksgiving. On a side note, I love all of these folks on this board that say 4A will be down and be easy to win with Highlands and Covington Catholic moving up to 5A next year. Beginning in 2016 I will take JH over both of those teams any day of the week. I would love to see our Freshman play Highlands just to give them a glimpse of the future.

That leftover turkey sandwich won't taste the same! I know JH won't be "down" long. Excellent players and coaches and systems in place, which the mass majority of these schools simply can't compete against. I felt the same way you did about the Beasts from the North especially last year, as you might imagine and it will be really fun to play those games I hope (really want to get Tisdale Jr a shot at them)! As for JH, as long as you can beat WCentral I don't see anyone that measures up to you on paper in the new 4A, but you still have to play the game.
Varneystone Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 7-0 at halftime and 28-0 final. Our kids had 6 turnovers and a blocked punt for a touchdown. 4 turnovers were in the redzone. JH has much better speed than St. X and comparable lines, meaning both are very good. We got several kids hurt or injured in that game, as we have 8 playing both sides of the ball and St. X only had 2, along with several capable backups.

Purple88 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Sorry to hijack your thread Varney. I know nothing about the game, but do know your boys beat the BG Frosh team in a high scoring affair. That was impressive to me.

That was impressive to me. Thanks for the positivity Purple, as we need some going forward to play the Meade Co. freshmen next week. We were healthy when we beat BG and they are really good. Attrition has taken it's toll on our kids and we have found a lack of depth. We played a really tough schedule and hopefully it will benefit our kids in the future.
