Pre-Season TN/KY Top 40 HS Poll

So where should henderson be?? They lost a few games last year made to state as always and have every player back.

If you think Henderson is #6 best team in Kentucky and Tennessee combined something is wrong. If you have not looked around at the other posts most agree with me. Its just anytime you rank teams based on who plays AAU for you( East Jessamine) then you lose credibility. Rank teams based on talent and who is the best. Where does Henderson stack up in the rankings? Number 1 of course. Now are you happy?

I don't think henderson is number 6 in ky/tenn but ky by itself maybe.

1. I think we are being completely transparent here. We aren't hiding the fact that kids from East Jessamine play for us. That being said we prefaced our ranking with the fact it's a surprise pick aka long shot pick. We also stated they finished 5th in their region. If they don't beat the teams in their region or lose games to teams ranked lower or unranked then we will surely move them down and out of the rankings and eventually out of the receiving consideration.

2. I truly believe in the kids there and their coach. Could I be overestimating them...yes possibly, but this is the possibly the best opportunity I have to take a chance on them. If they lose a few games to unranked teams the opportunity to rank them will be low. So why not now. They were ranked in the 2nd to last spot and 20th of 20 Kentucky teams. I think they have a shot...I maybe wrong but it's my list.

3. With the exception of East Jessamine all of those schools have very good arguments for being on the list and their position on the list. Do you think there is anything else egregious?

4. Henderson - I don't see anyone else disagreeing about Henderson. I didn't rank them #5th in the state most of last year, that was the coaches or sportswriters or whomever does the state rankings. I don't know if I need to defend it further than has been stated, they didn't lose any players. Here's my more indepth 2 cents - Ashland Blazer lost in the semi's, Henderson Co right there with them in the first round despite their best player only playing marginal minutes. We ranked Blazer rite behind Henderson. Not that much of a stretch. We ranked Henderson 4th in Kentucky not 1st or 2nd. That's not a stretch....sorry you don't agree.

Welcome to BGP!!!

Great first post!!!!!

henderson is a top five team in the state!! But I will be a honest fan can't beat the top teams like etown and butler because they have to much d-1 talent. Don't get me wrong they can give them a game.

Henderson county could be number one if you ranked all the teams and took away all their d-1 talent. But you can't so I say number 5. Where would you put them Archie??

I'm not sure what this means. Henderson Co has a number of kids who will or could play D-1. Deasia Outlaw has multiple D-1 offers currently but has basically declined because it appears she doesn't want to play in college....Alisha Owens is a lock for D1, she has mid-major offers. The 2 guards who play for Indiana Elite have a chance and Mikayla Gilbert from Indiana Elite will most likely be a D-1 kid as well.

well i mean D-1 talent in no question at all!!! Like the girl from etown is going to ND. Outlaw is a super track star. Brown is a super softball player. wallace, carter, and franis don't have the size to play d-1 so the only one that has a shot at D-1 is Owens but she is really soft and probably a mid-major. Gilbert dosen't haven't the size. So what i mean is no major D-1 or a player that is all in for just basketball. Great group of girls and should make it to final four if get a good draw. I wish they would win it all but it would take some luck and have to stay away from all injuries. They are top 5 for sure.

Owens is really soft??? I'm not sure that is even close to accurate. She is getting interest from multiple BCS programs and it's mostly becuz she is very physical and plays with a 'high motor'. Gilbert is a tweener but as she develops more perimeter skills it's a no brainer she will play D-1, although I agree not high level D-1. And your description of D-1 is skewed. D-1 is D-1....if we are talking about elite caliber Top 100-150 kids that's entirely different, there are very few of them in each state. Semantics I guess...since we certainly agree besides Owens they are all "low" D-1 caliber kids or maybe NAIA.
