For what he's worth, Pat Robertson said last night on TBN that he doesn't think God sends sickness on people. Generally, if Robertson says A , I believe B . In this case, we agree but for different reasons. God can't send illness if He doesn't exist. So, no it doesn't happen(by default).

You are correct. Maybe he has "evolved" in his thinking on this issue.

The short answer to the thread title/question is NO!

 

The long answer is....

 

Sickness is a consequence or a byproduct of death, which death is a consequence of sin (noun). Therefore it is true that sickness is a consequence of sin in the world. Before the original sin of adam (first man), there was no death or sickness.

 

HOWEVER, Jesus paid the full penalty or consequence of sin. (He is the second adam, if you will) The first adam brought on the consequence of sin, the second adam DEALT with or defeated the consequence of sin.

 

Summary = Jesus Christ became sin, died and rose again defeating sin. In His victory over sin, He also defeated ALL ramifications or consequences of sin...which includes sickness, and disease.

 

The work of Christ (Immanuel, God in the flesh) on Calvary's Cross (A roman crucifixion) provided healing for every fiber of our being....Spiritually, emotionally, and physically (Spirit, soul, body). Of course all of these gifts/provisions of the "second adam" are received/manifested by faith.

 

They actually can be received and manifested within this world that is still "sold under sin", IF a any person chooses to trust Christ in that manner.

 

The tragic thing is that even though this provision is a done deal and freely offered, still man will reject it (not believe). This is exactly why there is still the grip (curse) and evidence of sin in this world....pain, hurt, sickness, stealing, murdering, hatred, etc.

 

Let me say it like this...Jesus Christ will break the curse and consequence of sin and bring healing to every fiber of a mans being(spirit, soul, body), if they choose to believe in HIM, and His provision for them.

 

Of course faith comes from hearing the word of God (Romans 10). And since we don't hear the word of God much, and we mostly hear man's opinions, trashing or disqualifying the Word, then it is tough to have faith "unto salvation" or healing.
