Northern KY Coaches' Poll

Northern KY Boys Soccer: Week 4

1. Covington Catholic ( 4 ) 40

2. Cooper 33

3. Brossart 25

4. Ryle 23

4. Scott 23

6. Newport Catholic 19

7. St. Henry 18

8. Conner 12

9. Boone County 11

10. Highlands 8

Others: Simon Kenton 5, Campbell County 1, Dixie Heights 1, Grant County 1

You all will have a field day with this post... But Scott is well deserving of Atleast second. I know these polls mean nothing but after a weekend like they just had without Treadway. C'mon, it's hard not to say they are Atleast número dos.

Maher Rankings (9/14) for nky comparison:

1... CCH (11)

2 - 3... Ryle (16) and Scott (18)

4... Cooper (26)

5-8... NCC (36), HHS (37), Boone (38), St Henry (40)

9... Brossart (48)

10... Simon Kenton (73)

Others... Campbell County (77) and Conner (78)

At this point in the season Maher predicts about 4/5 games right based on rankings. Last year Maher was correct an impressive 15 of 15 games from elite 8 through finals).

Edited by Sir!

I'd certainly agree that Scott has a case for #2 along with Cooper. No idea how people would be ranking Ryle or Brossart ahead of them, but then again only 4 coaches voting?

As for the Maher rankings, I would not put much stock in them just yet. St. X has a losing record I believe and is #6 or something like that? Seems to be way too much weight on where teams finished last year.

North Oldham (ranked 10th) with a 2-2-3 record?

I think that both Scott and Cooper could make a case for #2, hard to argue when both teams are still without a loss... it will make for some nice banter if they can both stay this way until next weekend. No way can I see Brossart or Ryle being ranked above Scott but they are just rankings and only 4 people giving input does not give you a very good sampling distribution.

I will agree with you, Scott had a good weekend, I would say a great weekend but I am not sure that Ballard was deserving of the top 10 ranking they had. I still think this was a great win for Scott but I also noticed that Ballard lost to Daviess Co by the same 3-1 score. Going into last weekend, both Scott and Daviess Co were outside of the top 25 in the Maher Rankings so I would have expected more from Ballard, or, maybe Scott is just better than what the polls say.

Brossart's rankings are intriguing. #3 in NKY and #9 in Maher?

Ballard beat Dunbar

Ballard beat Dunbar

Ballard was missing 3 starters due to early start time and the ACT test weekend. Saw Ballard play Dunbar, when healthy and at full strength they are really good.

Ballard beat Dunbar

S. Oldham beats St X, who ties Olentangy Liberty, who beats Trinity... so how is it possible that Trinity beat S. Oldham? Just making a point, I do not put a lot of weight in this kinda stuff... for obvious reasons... not to mention how results can be flipped in soccer just off of one or two key plays.

I am not downplaying the success that Scott had last weekend, it is more about Ballard not appearing as strong as I was lead to believe, or maybe there were other reasons that they did not have good results last weekend.

For what it's worth... I think that Ballard actually tied Dunbar earlier this season.

If every team plays on the same pitch, in the same condition, with the same refs......you can see where I am going with this.......then I would put more weight on the who beat who, scenarios.
