The question is........does this change how the coach plays him when he receives the first yellow now? I will assume that red no longer means 2 games for him since this just set precedence........4,5 next time? Pretty soon you are into post season.

 

You'd hope the coach can recognize the situation and pull him out when needed. To Rez's point... he's done if he gets one more. Maybe their coach should have done what Nathan did at Boone. Enough crap... you're out for 5 games. He did that for two of them and kicked another two off.

Looking that far ahead would just be foolhardy on Cooper or Scott''s. Both teams are capable of winning or losing any game on their schedule.

I do get a kick out of the double black hat scenario. Who do we like less? I don't really get the whole thing about this game getting out of control, like there is some kind of bad blood between the two teams. To my knowledge there isn't, nor has there ever been. Look forward to the game when it's played, but there other things to worry about before then.

Well let's hope he doesn't do what the Boone coach did. The kid that got his second red card of the season was only suspended two games. (1st red at Bluegrass, 2nd in Scoot game) After a 2nd red a player should be suspended 3 games per KHSAA. So Boone coach suspended players with their 1st red ever for 5 games but the player with 2 reds on the season only got 2 games.??? Can someone explain that one? and yes the Bluegrass Games count same as a regular season game. (check the KHSAA rules).

The Bluegrass games are not considered to official preseason scrimmages like Soccerama for instance. If a player is ejected in official preseason match, by rule he would have to sit out the first two games of the season. Teams play in the Bluegrass games for this reason, extra games that do not count toward the official max number of preseason games.

Haha... now that's funny. It is hard for me to admit such a fact, but I like to confirm people's assumptions and understandings. However, when it does come to admitting OTB is right I have someone else type it up for me. Can't bring myself to do it.

I can't knock what the Boone coach has done. There were two games that got ugly with cards against Boone. And the Scott v Boone game there were what, 5 red cards by Boone kids? For four kids, Coach Browning extended the penalty to 5 games not just the two called for by the rules.

 

I understand how the one boy may be upset that he received the extra few games because he rarely is involved in anything like that. I don't know if he's had a yellow card before. It was out of character for him and his action was mild in comparison to others. But it may do him good to think about it for a few more games.

 

But the larger point is that Coach Browning took matters into his own hands and imposed additional penalties for those infractions he deemed to be particularly detrimental to the team. There was a discipline problem on the team. Those players who got a red card because of their mouth after the yellow card got 5 games. The one player who got red because of his play rather than his mouth got the normal suspension. Coach Browning is letting the players know that you have to keep your head. Discipline is important. A lack of discipline hurts the team. In fact, Boone gave one game away because the boys lost composure when the officiating proved to be completely unrelated to what was happening on the field. It is maddening, but you have to remain disciplined or you hurt yourself and those around you. These are the actions of a coach who is teaching the boys more than soccer. So I say, "Good on him."

The game might not have quite the same interest with the Scott loss to BB but Cooper will still be playing to keep their undefeated season in tacked.
