No, this was a different player.

Anyone stand out for Beechwood? Depth for varsity?

 

The players I was most impressed with were:

 

QB Everett - He has a lot of work to do to become a QB but he is a strong kid. Every time he ran the ball it took multiple players to bring him down and he showed good speed as well.

 

RB/DB Justice - A very shifty runner with good speed. He isn't big but is very tough. He is similar to Joe Studer.

 

DE/TE Benson - He has good size and strength and plays smart. I think he could hold his own at varsity right now.

 

RB/LB Soward - A good combo of strength and speed. He reminds me of those old style Beechwood runners like Teipel, Bankemper and Menetrey. He will need to get a little bigger to be like those players on varsity.

 

That is a good core group of sophomores that you can build a team with.

I look at it this way. If a player can play varsity he should dominate JV most of the time. Everett was close to that. Nothing against them but the rest didn't really impress me at all.
