Oldguy, I guess you just refuse to give Holy Cross any credit; you MUST be a ND supporter or parent of a player. How you can blame the referees or the place they played is beyond me. My goodness, if ND couldn't put Holy Cross away after being up 18 with 4 minutes to go, don't you think ND has to take some of the blame? Face it, ND just feel apart and Holy Cross came to life. Take your medicine and move on. Congrats again to Holy Cross!!!! They EARNED the win; it wasn't given to them by the refs.

 

No, I am not a parent of a player, and until I had a daughter attend NDA, I don't think I had ever attended a NDA game. I have attended many, many Girls BBall games and even helped sponsor (Boone County) girls tournaments (before I ever had a child), but NDA games, no. Yes I have a couple of friends kids play for NDA but so what, is it so bad to support a team? My guess is that you are a HC parent or supporter so I am glad for you.

 

The one poster who wrote that NDA missed free throws, hit the nail right on the head, NDA makes 50% of it's free throws and they win, but they didn't, so they lost.

It appears your ref comments aren't holding water with the vast majority of our fellow posters..Blow a 19 point lead in the last qtr. and you are blaming the refs. I would say the blame has to fall elsewhere don't you think?

 

Now if you could go back and read any of my post from the Holmes, Boone County, Christian Academy Louisville etc. games you would have read where I have posted that NDA can't hold a lead, and they still can't. BIGZIG will tell you that he and I have written to each other back door and talked about her, and I am on record that if Fookes were the coach of this team, with the talent that they have, they would be walking off with the ninth with no problem.

 

Why did I say something about the gym? I am on record as saying any gym that holds a district or regional game should be handicap accessible and HC isn't, (and don't tell me about putting up movable ramps when a person comes in, that is dehumanizing to a handicapped individual and I know of two who didn't attend because of it) and in this day and age that in itself is a reason not to hold a District game there. BTW, I have written a letter to the KHSAA about the Holy Cross gym not being handicap

accessible, but I have yet to receive a return reply and that was three weeks ago. On a neutral floor, we will see if it helps or not...... my guess is that it means something or else HC wouldn't be so strong about wanting to play the District Tournament there and I can't blame them for that.....

 

Ref's? I have been to enough games and sat on the bench enough to understand a well called game and a poorly called one, and this was a poorly called game. Maybe you are one of the fans/parent/supporters who love the way the Ninth call their games, but many dislike the way the Ninth Refs call a game compared to the rest of the Commonwealth. I really feel sorry for whatever region gets the Ninth Refs for their Regional games. They will have to make huge adjustments to play...All I ask is for the game to be called the same on both ends of the floor and in my opinion I didn't think it was last night.... Again in my opinion.....

 

I can't wait until the Regionals and to get refs who let the kids play the game.......The boys side is getting the 5th Regions Refs, I can only hope that the girls get the 8th 10th or 11th where they let them play the game...

 

Many in the NDA side of the stands were scared to death when NDA got such a large lead not because of how good HC is, but because the history of this team is to blow big leads with so much time left in the 4th quarter.

Can' t blame the officials on this loss. 6 for 18 from the foul line in the fourth quarter isn't the officals fault.

All I can say about this game is WOW! I left after the third quarter because I didn't think I'd be missing anything by taking off. As far as the officiating is concerned, it was absolutely fair and impartial for the three quarters that I watched. Can't vouch for the fourth quarter or overtime because I wasn't there, but I can't imagine that it suddenly became that one-sided.

Neutral Floor I'll Give You, but why rag on the refs, both schools are 9th region so there should not be a difference. Also, you can't use the Public vs. Private argument on this one. Both teams have good programs, I guess I'm a little confused by this comment.

Let me ask this. While I did not attend, I will surmise that NDA had trouble with the press and HC got a lot of momentum going with the press. I hear that ND finished regulation with 2 or 3 timeouts left. Why save them? Why not use them to stop the "mo" and get the team focused and set up. Presses usually work because someone is not where they should be. Get them lined up, coach.

 

This does nothing but lend support to doubters.

If this is true, then I think it will give some advantage to NDA just like it will give some advantage to the Highlands on the boys side as both play a very physical game. If you have seen any of the Boys games at Ryle, then you have seen Refs who let the kids play, but within the rules. In two of the games I have seen, they have done a great job controlling the game, but not calling the ticky tack fouls that the Ninth Region Ref's are know for throughout the Commonwealth. In my opinion, the style of play that the Refs are allowing the boys to play in the tournament, is how the rest of the Commonwealth plays the game, and will help the Ninth Region winner to be prepared for the rougher style of play that is allowed by the rest of the Commonwealth officals be it the girls game or the boys game.
