Campbell County 7 on 7 (7-15-14)

Featured Replies

Holmes, Conner, Campbell County and Boone County participated.

Not much stood out to me. Boone County clearly looked like the best of the four but I am sure others may have a different perspective. Boone County got some pretty good QB play today which set them apart.

Holmes is really small, they look like a JV team. And just like last year the Holmes coach is the most vocal guy on the field. He provided a lot of positive feedback but one time when he got critical I believe one of his players gave him some back. I do like how the Holmes coach handles his team.

Campbell looked pedestrian. It is so hard to read into 7 on 7 competition but my guess is they better be real solid up front this year.

Conner looked a little pedestrian too. I think it is tough when you go from having a big time, elite QB back to normal. I will say Conner's coaches really coached some of their players up.

In short, I look for the starters on all four teams to play the entire game almost every week.

Are you saying that Campbell and Connor do not as yet have crisp passing games?

Yes, Jamar Lamb.

The 2nd team QB looked solid too. Peter Westhoff (PW3).

So, who actually won this 7 on 7 tournament out of the 4 teams?

It was not a tournament so to speak. The teams all played each other, twice in some cases.

I don't have any idea on names Clyde.

Sounds like Padgett may have performed the best of the bunch today.

Note that Conner doesn't play all "1s." They split the players into two squads - a mix of varsity and JV.

Conner and Ryle on Wednesday. Any other teams at Ryle with them? Might have to check it out.

The Camels lost their only QB with experience, other than last years freshman QB, Gray. I didn't expect to see much from their passing game, at least not early on. I agree that Boone had the better QB play today.
