Estill County is the top team on the bracket so I'm assuming they'll be the home team, Highlands will be away.

Highlands is one of the hottest teams heading into the state tournament. I'm hoping it's close and Estill pulls out the win but it's not gonna be easy.

Let's go people, whatcha got?

 

Since joining the 14th Region in 2005 Estill Co. has won the regional title 8 times ('05,'06,'07,'08,'09,'12,'13,'14) & lost in the '10 regional finals. Not many of us in NKY have had the chance to see Estill Co. play, however, from the looks of their schedule and their past history this will be a quality opponent for the Bluebirds.

 

Highlands on the other hand as played with the "moxy" of a team that is not to be denied. Coach Coffey has his team believing that they can beat anybody and they have 3rd baseman/shortstop combo that flat-out get's it done on defense.

 

This has the makings of a "good ole good one".

Knowing very little about Estill county makes it a tough one to call, but I will say that the Birds will play all 21 outs. They seem to be a lot less nervous than last week and ready to play. I know the Seniors, Kendall Turner and Ashley Grosser are not ready to play their last game quite yet and will be the leaders for the run. Mental toughness has been contagious in their streak and I don't see that going away. As a parent, I'm pretty proud of this bunch and am really looking forward to heading "to the 'ship" as Kendall puts it. Of course I'm wishing the best for these young ladies as they proceed on this endeavor. They seem to understand that they are not there just playing for the name on the front but the Ninth as a whole.

... and yes Lawnboy.. We plan on doing some damage at Moonlight!!!
