Both great young men, both played at Bryan Station here in Lexington. Congratulations, guys!

Good for them!!! I was just wondering about Marcellous Washington the other day.

Congrats to both. I really like Washington's game.

I like both of the kids' games. I covered the 11th for BGP this year and think that both schools are a good fit for each.

 

Washington is the kind of kid that can get hot and carry a team when his shot is falling. He's what I'd liken to an NBA 'volume scorer' at the high school level. He's not shy about putting it up, but when it's going in, there's no reason for him to be because you wouldn't find a kid more capable of filling it up (at the high school level). Nice elevation on his shot and while he's a tad undersized, his athleticism at the position really makes up for it. He's the kind of kid that you have highs and lows with, but when he's on, he can carry you to victory over anyone. The best part about him is that he doesn't need two picks and a pass, he'll find a way to get his shot off-- quick crossover and pull up. Maybe a tad prone to falling in love with the outside shot, but you can't blame him when it's on.

 

 

Allen is, for my money, one of the more underrated kids in the 11th-- just a WARRIOR. If I'm going to war, I want him on my side. IIRC, he was the only Station starter to play the entire year for the team, which tells you a lot about his mentality and character. The team didn't have the best year this year when you take everything into account, but he was a blue collar kid who was still there and brought it every night. He had some games where he was, in my opinion, one of the best players on the floor for the Defenders. I really liked his game when I saw Station at the Republic Bank Classic. A very steadying influence who plays within himself, doesn't try to get caught up in doing things he can't do and just plays his game. An underrated defender. He had a really nice game against PRP when I saw them in person (i.e., not on video... and not the PRP that you saw in the State Tournament, as the PRP team I saw had Lamontray Harris, who was one of the top players in the always loaded 6th). Nothing flashy, but a gritty kid whose selfless and seems to be willing to do whatever he needs to do to help his team win.
