Jack of all Trades
In a game that was rolling along through 4, these teams play another 6 before the game is called because of darkness. Birds took an early 2-0 lead in the first. Boone tied it 2-2 and then eventually took the lead 4-2 after 5 1/2 innings. Boone pitcher walks first 3 batters in the bottom of the 6th and Birds make them pay by plating 2 to tie it. Birds had several chances to win the game, but could not execute. Boone took lead in top of 10 and Birds scratched the tying run across in the bottom of the 10th. Game was called at that point because you could barely see the ball. Pitchers for the most part through pretty well for both teams. Next up for the Birds is a doubleheader against Lexington Catholic tomorrow after the varsity game against Cooper. rebel1216
Fun game to watch.....good pitching and solid D from both teams.. young rebels had some impressive arms and typical Meyerhoff defence. Birds bats make alot of contact, and put ball in play majority of today's lineup...wish they would have had parents turn headlights on to finish..LOL...exciting game and both teams impressed for this early....well done guys and good luck to both rest of season!! jpa2825
Who were some of the arms that tossed for the Birds? I think I heard SO Evan Ling started?
Jack of all Trades
Who were some of the arms that tossed for the Birds? I think I heard SO Evan Ling started? Ling threw the first 4, Casebolt for 3 and Walkenhorst for 3. Dougherty 2 hits, Mayhew 2 hits, Beal, Walkenhorst, Raisor and Rust with one each. Dougherty hit two absolute missiles in this game. First one was a near Aroldis Chapman moment and the second was a one hopper to the 2nd baseman who turned two before batter and runner even took 10 steps between them. tdyballgame
Was told that Dougherty has a big powerful swing. Coaches are very excited to have this young man on the diamond. Great to see kids play multiple sports. Hopefully this type of multi sport athlete continues at HHS. Would love to see some of the other baseball players get back on the gridiron. jpa2825
Good to hear. Reynolds always seems to get the JV bats rolling. He is very humble about it ("I just dump the bats out of the bags and try not to get in their way,") but they really like playing for him. Should be a good group. They should all remember that Ramey spent the 1st 1/2 of the season last year with JV and ended up hitting 3rd for the Varsity in the District and Region tourney games!!! Jack of all Trades
This team is without one of their better players right now in Conner Kreeger. Quality bat and another pitcher.
