Wolfe County 29-24

Hazard radio guys were talking before the game started between Powell and Wolfe. It went something like this:

"I haven't seen these teams this year, have you? I don't know much about them."

"No, haven't seen them. I believe Wolfe won both matches this year, but I think the game will be close."

I kept waiting for them to say, "But I'm pretty sure they're in the 14th region because they're in this tournament."

I don't know about other regions but the difference between the northern section of the 14th region and the southern section is as different as day and night. The northern part doesn't get much attention, but in most years it just doesn't have teams in the hunt to win the region (unless it's baseball and softball, then it's a different story.) But even in the years they have fairly good teams they still don't generate the publicity of the Hazard-Hindman-Whitesburg triangle. It's been that way ever since I can remember, and I started watching games back in the early 1960's.

5:00 left in 3rd.
