statman Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 128 teams across the Commonwealth still have a dream of winning the 2014 State Championshp. 11 District Championships are in the books. 46 District Championships on tap tonight and 7 to be played on Saturday. Good luck to all those participating in the Region Tournaments starting next week.
statman Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Region Tournaments start tomorrow. I wonder how often 16 Region Champions from one year all have a chance to defend the next as is the case this year. Last year, 3 of those Region Champions reached Rupp after being District Runners Up. This year to repeat, 4 schools would have to do the same. Let the games begin. I love this time of year.
statman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 The dream ended for 12 teams last night as the entire 6th Region and 7th Region quarterfinals were played and half of the 9th and 14th were played. Congratulations to those who survived and advanced and kudos to those whose seasons and in some cases high school careers have ended. 116 teams remain, 12 more games tonight as the 5th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th Regions have two games each. Good luck to those participating.
statman Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 104 teams remaining in the hunt for the Commonwealth Championship. 12 more teams' seasons ended last night and 22 games to be played tonight. Good luck to all participants. Hoping to attend the two 9th Region Quarterfinals tonight at BOK Center. Hey, are they serving fish at the concession stand? Just a thought.
statman Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 At around 7pm tonight, there will be 54 teams remaining in the hunt for Rupp. 4 games on tap today including the 9th Region Semifinal which is currently at halftime. Madison Central, last year's Commonwealth Champion, is currently the only team not returning to Rupp from last year's Sweet 16.
statman Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 13 Region Championships are on tap tonight. Regions which will not have a repeat appearance at Rupp from last year to this one: 1st - Graves County last year, either Marshall County or McCracken County this year 3rd - Ohio County last year, either Muhlenberg County or Owensboro this year 5th - John Hardin last year, either Bardstown or Elizabethtown this year 9th - Holmes last year, Covington Catholic this year 11th - Madison Central (state champ) last year, either Henry Clay or Scott County this year 29 teams with the dream still alive
PurplePride92 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Will the Sweet 16 games be broadcast like the football finals were?
statman Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Not sure about broadcasts, I do know that for the last several years there have been live stats and play by play similar to cybersports. The links are on the KHSAA website throughout the 5 days of the tournament.
foremanwc Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Last year they were broadcast on ihigh.I sure hope they will be again.
