128 teams across the Commonwealth still have a dream of winning the 2014 State Championshp. 11 District Championships are in the books. 46 District Championships on tap tonight and 7 to be played on Saturday. Good luck to all those participating in the Region Tournaments starting next week.

Region Tournaments start tomorrow. I wonder how often 16 Region Champions from one year all have a chance to defend the next as is the case this year. Last year, 3 of those Region Champions reached Rupp after being District Runners Up. This year to repeat, 4 schools would have to do the same. Let the games begin. I love this time of year.

The dream ended for 12 teams last night as the entire 6th Region and 7th Region quarterfinals were played and half of the 9th and 14th were played. Congratulations to those who survived and advanced and kudos to those whose seasons and in some cases high school careers have ended.

 

116 teams remain, 12 more games tonight as the 5th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th Regions have two games each. Good luck to those participating.

At around 7pm tonight, there will be 54 teams remaining in the hunt for Rupp. 4 games on tap today including the 9th Region Semifinal which is currently at halftime. Madison Central, last year's Commonwealth Champion, is currently the only team not returning to Rupp from last year's Sweet 16.

Will the Sweet 16 games be broadcast like the football finals were?

Not sure about broadcasts, I do know that for the last several years there have been live stats and play by play similar to cybersports. The links are on the KHSAA website throughout the 5 days of the tournament.

Last year they were broadcast on ihigh.I sure hope they will be again.

South Oldham, Wayne County, Knott County Central, and Fleming County are making repeat appearances to Rupp. Add the 7th and 10th Regions to the list of regions not repeating this year as Trinity and Campbell County are going down state.
