Conner's 4-guard+Hemmerich lineup did really well. Caused a lot of problems for Boone's man-to-man D and by getting into the passing lanes defensively.

 

Big night for soph Michael Scott. Really smooth player inside and out. Finishes well. Nice stroke from the outside. Solid all around.

I really liked Conner's 4 guard lineup v Ryle as well. Defensively they are very good together and trap well in the full court press.

 

Glad you mentioned Scott. I've seen him several times this year and while he may not have scored much in the games I saw, you can see a ton of potential with him. Strong, good size, and has a solid all around game.

 

Boone has really gone down hill lately after getting off to a hot start.

 

Conner is tough to beat at home.

Funny moment. Boone's Downs was right in front of Coach Hicks at Conner's bench. Officials ruled ball out on Conner. Jim was sure it hit young Downs. He jokingly asked Downs to tell the truth and Downs just clammed up. Jim laughed and Todd Downs did as well.

IN THE OLD DAYS you had to get there early and you probably still had to sit up top for the game. Sad, sad, sad for this old CSHS guy.

Game of runs. Conner put up 20 points in the first qtr. I think it was 20-10.

 

Boone cut it to 5 at half.

 

Boone started the 2nd half on a 12-2 to go up 34-29.

 

Conner reeled off 9 straight and never trailed again.

 

For Coach Hicks it's one of those wins where everyone contributed.

Even sadder is the fact that I would consider last night's game a "decent" crowd by Conner standards.

Conner is having a nice little week. 2-0 with victories over district rivals Cooper and Boone. It will be interesting to see how they respond coming off two big wins in a matinee game this afternoon vs Highlands.

Hemmerich had 25 and Scott had 14. Great start by Hemmerich to get Conner going. Really has a nice offensive game for a kid who isn't overly athletic. His step-back J was sweet.

I was in grade school in the 70s. Conner played Boone at Boone . Conner side was already crowded with butts in seats before the Conner bus even arrived.

 

Communities were smaller and tighter. Rapid growth in the county has hurt the "community" aspect of it. Downside of rapid growth.

For sure.. I remember getting off the bus to a packed gym at boone my freshmen year.. Its tough to see now.. Most places are like that now.. Almost every game we played in was a full gym, now it seems like only the "big" games get the crowds.. #1 v #2 or Holmes v CCH.. Those are packed because people just enjoy watching good basketball..
