I'm not being defensive. I've maintained in most of my posts it's possible this is true. I just don't see why they would do it. It would be completely out of character for Eli and the Giants organization.

Exactly why would it be totally out of character for Eli?

Eli has already shown UN the past he's all about himself. It's not like he's proven not to be self centered and selfish.

 

Here is what I think has occured. I think this type of thing has happened in the past and the equipment manager was used to get replacements to hand out instead of the real mccoys. I don't think it was Eli's idea at all but just so happened to go along with the charade. I think maybe someone approached Eli and he said yes but really didn't want to give up his jersey and was somehow told what they could do instead or he already heard about what was done with other memorabilia and went along with it. Either that or the equipment manager was doing it all and players weren't aware, either way it isn't so far fetched to think it does t happen.

 

The Giants aren't the first, if this is true, to do something like this. Presidents have always had their secretaries sign autographs etc. since the beginning of time. I'm sure other teams have done similar things too.

 

Either way, whether Eli is innocent or guilty, he isn't a saint.

I realize I'm a little irrational when it comes to the Giants. I think you are just as irrational when it comes to Eli. You hate him...I can see that. I love him. He's already been part of two Super Bowl champion teams in a few years. Something some organizations can't manage to do once in their entire history.

I'm going to let you in on something you didn't know about me.

 

I was the Mannings #1 fan for years. I knew everything about them. I always liked Archie but always thought he got too much credit in the NFL. Yes he played on a terrible Saints team but at the same time he really didn't do much to improve them. As a college player Archie was phenominal.

 

I followed Peyton al through college at Tennessee and never understood how there could be any question when he was drafted when it came to who should go #1 him or Leaf. The Mannings have always been a class act. Now when Peyton was a sophomore we started hearing stories about his younger brother and how good he was. I started following Eli big time, he was the best QB of all 3 of them, so the rumors went. Archie and Peyton both mentioned that also. I loved how Eli went to Ole Miss just like his dad. He was playing great in college and I used to have my son who was a QB at the time try and emulate Eli. He was a natural.

 

Now to back up a bit, I never could stand John Elway and it all came from how he and his dad manipulated the NFL draft. That is all I needed. For a player who hadn't taken a single snap in the NFL to be so arrogant to think they are better than everyone else in the NFL that they can dictate who they want to play for and ignore the draft was just wrong in my eyes. Then comes Eli and the player that was going to be my favorite in the NFL comes and does the same.

 

Now there was one difference in Elway and Eli, Elway actually was drafted by the Yankees and was going to p,ay baseball instead so he could actually decide not to play football if he chose not to. Eli on the other hand basically said to San Dieho, I'm not showing up, I will never play for you and I want to play for the Giants. Then and only then is when I realized how self centered and selfish Eli was and I lost all respect for him.

 

I can't stand arrogance of that kind and it only took that arrogant move to drop him to the bottom of my favorite players list. Then put on top of that his avg play since he's been a pro but the overhype of him every year makes it even easier to dislike him.
