Do you think playing the 4th game in 5 days had anything to do with the lack of fizzle? How bout 2 games in under 24 hours? You think that might cause a lack of fizzle?

 

NDA is a good team. They won. Nobody can control the weather which is why the game got moved to 3:30. Nobody's fault that Conner played a makeup game this past week that was previously cancelled cause of weather.

 

But IMO Conner was a bit fizzled out before game even started.

That could be an excuse but this late in the season it shouldn't be a problem. Even if that was the case, there's no excuse for players taking bad shots over & over or making basic skill turnovers at the end of the game with a win on the line. After watching Conner during some summer league games, I was impressed & convinced Stamm had a lot of young talent on his bench he could use to keep a fast pace without sacrificing the level of competition. I only saw Conner in a couple preseason games so it is possible those bench players just happened to have a good game for the ones I saw since Stamm seems to play only 2 deep off the bench. Everyone knows that a bench can make or break a team & if Stamm isn't confident playing more players off his bench then Conner's future isn't as bright as people thought!!

NDA stepped up this game & for them to pull out the win in foul trouble without Ogle & Smith scoring or playing a lot of minutes tells you they are legit!!

NDA needs them to turn it on just to get out of districts this year. They need to find a way to stay on the floor during games as they are critical to NDA's success. NDA length's effected Conner's 3 attempts just as it worked against Highlands. I don't think it was a lack of energy, maybe some frustration that led to poor shot selection. Once NDA finally decided to front the post the game switched and Conner's guards lost patience.

This is a classic post from a parent who thinks their kid should play more. And don't tell me you're not because I know who you are. "Fizzled out"??? Really?! Doors anyone else that was at that game think Conner ran out of gas? Those kids (Conner) played 120% until the final buzzer. They had a few bad possessions in the 4th that cost them the game. It could have went either way but ND won and ND shouldn't be discredited from a disgruntled parent. Just sayin.

Agreed!! Conner's sharp shooters are set shooters & can't/won't shoot with a hand in their face. NDA took full advantage of that which is why Conner only made 2 3s all night. Conner's other weakness is lack of ball handlers!! If Gambrell is out, Conner falls apart. Hicks & Dages are good players but neither make smart decisions at point & that results in turning the ball over!! Maines gets going faster than the ball & Hendrick's is more than capable but doesn't look comfortable in that position. Outside of Hicks, who is another ball handler for JV? Stamm needs more players off his bench to step up to relieve his starters or this season may end like last year!!!

I'm still saying NDA/NCC will most likely the 9th Region representative!! Both schools have & play deep benches!!

Where are the teams stats posted? They aren't on KHSAA site as they were last year, not on Cincinnati.com either. What's your source of info? Please share it, I know my kid would like to know hers. As for Ogle, it's a bit tough to be what she was last year when she has sat due to injury most of the season.

NDA will peak at the right time. Ogle will get better every start. If Ogle doesn't score a point her defense is worth 32 minutes of floor time anyway. This team has great chemistry and seems selfless in their games. It is not a lock but they have to be considered a strong contender for the 9th title. It may come down to coaching and that remains to be seen when the tourney rolls around.

 

Conner can and will beat anyone if you let them. Great shooters and an inside player who can score at will. Stamm will not let them get tired and when the tourney rolls around all the teams benches get shorter anyways.

Interesting & curious as to why you think you know who I am?? Neither one of my children play basketball for Conner & while I'm still not thrilled with that fact, I accept their choice to participate in other school activities. Because I love the sport, I attend games as a spectator & not as a "disgruntled" parent!! I was giving my opinion on what I feel is Conner's weakness. Check the stats on the # of shots that were thrown up vs. shots made...check the stats on turnovers made late in the game..you will find the stats back up my opinion!! I assume you must be the parent of a player that had one bad game & don't want your kid's skill level questioned!! Conner has talent & no one questions that!! & YES for whatever reason Conner lacked energy at the end of this game!!

The coaching staff has NDA students recording stats. I would ask for them. Not sure the coach shares this information with Players. You are correct Ogle has missed a lot of the season and is a huge asset on the defensive end. The point I was trying to make is these players are really good and need to be on the floor for majority of game for NDA to Win.

I'm not sure that as a parent I should be the one asking for her stats. I personally feel that a coach would use stats as a tool to help a player improve, especially if they are significantly less than the prior season. Since you seem to know their stats are down in comparison, would you mind sending me a PM so I can share them with her? I can use the online stats from last year to figure out how much she's down from this same time last year.

I also agree, they need to stay on the floor and produce some baskets to help the cause but it's great to see that Kellam seems to have put the team on her shoulders as Liv did last year. Someone needed to take that role. Hellman is doing a hell of a job as is Stallman, if she can also get that needed time on the floor. Now that Henderson is back, I'm sure she will score some too. The chemistry between the girls is great & that's a huge part of what it's going to take to make it into post season. IMO of course!!

One thing the stats won't tell you is the intangibles - like just how good Olivia Voskuhl was in making the players around her better!!!

I agree & apologize for naming names. I by no means meant Coach Stamm did anything wrong or that he doesn't sub in correctly. In fact I would have loved for my kid to continue playing basketball & played for Coach Stamm!! Maybe I went about that the wrong way. Moving forward I just feel Conner needs to become a team that can win without the 3's because outside shots don't always go in so you need to stay calm & develop your lane game!! I'm just not sure Conner has many players on the bench that are capable to do that at this stage. Obviously that is not to say they won't step up & do it. Stamm & his staff know what they have & what players are capable of no questions asked!!

Thanks for the apology to BigZig. I just felt like you were criticizing the coaching staff and the players and thought that was wrong without being constructive. To answer your assumption, I am a parent but thought my "kid" played one of the best games she's ever had while putting up 28 points and battling underneath. But I am glad you didn't question her abilities or I certainly would have had a stronger tone. You know who I am now so feel free to come up and introduce yourself at the next game.
