Wes Cissell, 34, was found dead Monday in his home in Florida.

 

Cissell was a Nelson County native, playing for the Cardinals' 1996 state championship squad. He attended UK and went on to coach high school football in Kentucky as an assistant at Lexington Catholic and Trinity, according to his obituary information, as well as places in Florida. His most recent post was as director for residential life at North Broward Prep.

I honestly hate hearing about stuff like this. That's way too young, prayers for the young mans family.

Awful to hear, actually, that's not even the word or phrase to describe untimely deaths like this. I lost a close friend last year not much older than Coach Cissell. Might I ask what the cause of death was or is that not released yet?

Remember him well my cousin played on the 1996 Nelson County team and I spent a lot of time with the players on that team growing up even got to watch film with them the day before of the state championship game. RIP Wes
