Final.

Ison leads the Bearcats with 23.

Congratulations to the The Lady Bearcats!

Looked for a box score on this one but could not find one. If anyone sees one, please post it. I do know that Sophomore Hailey Ison had 19 rebounds to go along with her 23 points and Junior Allie Mills finished with 12 pts.

With this win, they have managed to get themselves to 5-7 which at first glance doesn't seem like much, but I think it is necessary to put things into a proper perspective.

1. First of all, 3 of their seven losses are against top twenty teams in the state. SK, Notre Dame, and Dunbar (the latest Cantrell rankings have them at 15 I think). For what little experience they had coming into this season, they have a very difficult schedule and there is no shame in losing to these teams if it makes you better. You could lighten their schedule up on these three games and they could be just as easily sitting at 8-4. Hopefully in the end, it all pays off.

2. The injuries they have had to endure is mind boggling. I personally have not seen anything like it. Broken nose, concussion, broken wrist, and 3 knee injuries. In short, out of 12 games played, 10 of them have been without 3 major contributors/starters available. (Not always the same girls)

I don't care who you are, having that many players out will have an effect. Not only are you missing players, but the whole process of learning roles and how your going to play gets changed multiple times when different players become unavailable and when the line up and rotation is mixed up again after another injury. There is no doubt that the process of getting better as a team has been slowed and restarted due to injuries however, I love how the girls have not used it for an excuse and are doing all they can to not let it define them. They keep playing hard and they are getting better. Coach Clinkenbeard and staff are coaching their guts out and I really appreciate their toughness to not quit when things have been difficult.

Next up for the Bearcats...@Oldham County Monday night.

There was no line totals for Grant County

That's a bummer, the Grant line totals is what I was wanting to see. Thanks a bunch though.

I agree. That's a lot for a team to endure. But I would think in the long run it will make them better. From girls having to step up and do more than they are usually counted on to do and others getting opportunities they may not have gotten...creating depth in the long run.

Nice line by Ison.

No kidding! What a beast! (in a good way!).
