Revisiting the "running clock" rule

It seems like we are doing more and more to shorten games instead of becoming more competitive.

I agree. I think the margin should have stayed at 45, 36 is too low. 45 allows a team to get experience for their second and third string players, and maybe get a "real" game look at some players that may get moved into the rotation. Games are sometimes more then a win/loss situation, they can be an evaluation tool as well.

To Scribe,, if your down 36 points you ain't real competitive!

it seems that some of the underclassmen doesn't get enough playing time against someone other than their team mates.

:thumb: This is my point.

Again, I agree, "IF" the running clock is kept then make it higher than the 36. These kids work their butts off through Spring, Summer and Pre season practice....all the team, not just the starters. Giving the younger kids playing time in a varsity game rewards them for their hard work every day in practice plus will do nothing but help the coach and team by giving reserves valuble playing time in actual game situations, that benefits all.

Also, as I said in my original post, if there was a way to at a certain point total, be it 36 or 42, 45 (I like those) to mandate that all starters come out (both teams) and play the game out in regulation time the I feel that would benefit the reserves/underclassmen. After all, the kids is what this game is supposed to be about.

Is it 36 in the first half in KY now?

36 at any point.

36 at any point.

It's 35 in Tennessee in 2nd half...no running clock in 1st half.
