PITCHERS & CATCHERS

Featured Replies

WOW! Makes classing baseball have a little teeth doesn't it?

I'm not so sure.

Last year's champion was Lexington Christian Academy, a Single "A" Private School.

2004's Champion was Christian County. I'm not sure how big they are, but for some reason I think they're classified as AAAA in Football.

Anyway, in the past 2 years here are the 13 teams that have made it to Applebee's Park:

Beechwood

LCA

Owensboro Catholic

Johnson Central

Christian County (Both years...Champs in '04

Ashland Blazer

Trinity (Both years)

North Hardin

Butler

Corbin

Boyd County

Lafayette

Heath

Does anyone know where I can easily find the classifications for these schools?

I know Beechwood & LCA are "A".

Owensboro Catholic is "AA" I believe.

Ashland Blazer & Johnson Central are both "AAA" I think.

Trinity, Lafayette, North Hardin & Butler are all "AAAA", are they not?

That leaves out Boyd Co., Corbin, Heath and Christian County.

Unreal from what I heard Beechwood had less than 30 total for tryouts!!!

I'd guess that Beechwood will add some kids after basketball season. I'll guess they may have 40 kids in the program when all is said and done.

Heck, I am happy as I can be with 3 returning pithers. I may be able to work with a couple guys to "steal" some innings. You just have to be very careful not to over work their arms. With 30 pitchers I could throw a new pitcher every inning. That is incredible.

There are single A schools that don't have 90 boys in there school, let alone baseball players.

Most schools in the mountains are lucky to have 30 players to try out much less 30 pitchers. That is amazing.
