Conferences

Featured Replies

Everyone hates the districts, everyone hates the playoff format. Should we just blow the whole thing up and have conferences that the schools form on their own?

Yeah, that would work out great. Highlands has to beg people just to play them in the regular season. Who's going to want to be in a conference with them? Same goes for Trinity and possibly others.

I remember when there were conferences, you had a regular season title with no post season play as teams then moved onto playoffs. It did help scheduling, you played district opponents and conference opponents and pretty much had a full schedule.

Anybody have a list of the teams from the old CKC?

Actually, the conference idea isn't a bad one in theory, although it's not right for Kentucky. Had Kentucky established conferences years and years ago, I think the tradition those conferences would have could have been a good thing. But, that time has passed.

Conference play and championships are a big deal in Ohio for instance and it gives schools something to play for every week. We all know winning the GCL or GMC is a big deal. But to small schools who are closely bound by proximity and/or demographics winning their conference is a HUGE deal to the community. In Cincinnati, the CHL, and SBC are two such examples.

Thanks, I see 1A to 3A schools on that list (back then it only went to 3A).

I remember in the late 70's early 80's Somerset had some great games with Henry Clay and Madison.

Several CKC trophies in the Somerset trophy case from back in those days!
