AARON SNYDER: Buchanan-itis is setting in

ASHLAND — I’m feeling slightly James Buchanan-esque this week.

 

Recognized as America’s most indecisive leader — Google “James Buchanan” and “indecisive” for 10-plus pages of legitimate hits — the 15th president possessed several of the similar qualities that I do this particular Friday.

 

Scanning up and down my predictions for this week, I am truly only confident about maybe three.

I thought this was some sort of disease that made you more like ChiefSmoke. No hair and an inability to sit still. Also constantly using words like "Billfold"!!

The funny thing is, when I saw the headline I thought about chief smoke as well, I thought it was going to be about him and Mason County.

My favorite Buchanan story in history comes from the Scot War for Independence. Supposedly, even after the battle had been won, the Buchanans pursued the English just so they could kill more of them.

 

When I told my oldest son that story, he responded, "That explains a lot."
