Now that we are into our last week of the season, who is your NKY top 5.........

 

Mine would be different if you had asked me one or two weeks ago........

 

So, based on injuries I know, teams I've seen and scores I've researched:

 

 

1. Boone

2. NCC

3. CCH (although they seem to play to the level of their opponent)

4. St Henry

5. Highlands/ Bishop Brosart (some could argue that Scott with Treadway could compete, but I'm a fan of the relying on the ref to call penalties...especially when NKY teams go down state with those refs.)

 

However....1-5 are only slightly separated and in my mind, there is no real favorite this year...

 

 

Agree or disagree?

I'd have to say Boone is a slight favorite entering the post season but the others you can just say take your pick. Of course, Brossart and Scott are in the 10th region, which is very marginal talent-wise. I'd think one of those two easily wins that region. 9th region is going to be very competitive. Any one of 4-5 teams can win that region if they get hot at the right time. I think a lot depends on the regional draw that comes out.

I would agree with your listing. I would add that any of these teams can beat the other on any given night. I'm not so certain that Boone is slightly above the rest. It really just comes down to who shows up to play. As is always the case, the team that wants it more will usually come out on top. It should be fun. I hate to see it come to an end.

I agree with your top five although I haven't seen Cov Cath play and I haven't seen Highlands since the beginning of the season. With Borkoski out hurt for Boone, I'd probably give a slight edge to NCC. As others have said, any of these teams could win their region if they go on a roll.

I did not hear of the Borkowski injury.........

 

Also....I would also take into consideration the Coach and his ability to run a game.......

This is a link to a guy who has a computer program that compares teams wins and their opponents wins and then ranks the teams a lot like the BCS in football. The computer likes Boone county and then bunches the rest of NKY pretty evenly.

Not sure I follow your logic. He had Highlands 24th and Dixie 69th. Would you expect more or less of a difference. Seems about right to me.

I was told by a Boone parent that he had a partial muscle tear and should be able to play basketball but probably wouldn't be back before soccer was over.
