Cooper defeated north Oldham in the gold bracket finals and tates creek beat Campbell County in the silver finals. Both were close and very hard fought games. Congrats to all the girls for playing some great volleyball. Always enjoy the cake classic but $8 to get in? Come on people that is ridiculous.

Cooper looked great!! I wasn't too impressed with Tates Creek at all!! I watched them play Conner & Conner gave them a good fight missing 2 key players!! I also agree with the price of admission especially since those paying to watch were packed in seats like sardines!! I also was less then impressed with the officiating!! Too many inconsistent calls & the scorekeepers struggled badly with keeping the right score!!! Congrats to Cooper!! Would love to see the Lady Jags knock some private school teams off that 9th Region pedestal!!!!

Which ones do you feel the Jags are capable of defeating? I assume you are referring to ND since they are the defending 9th champs and currently the highest ranked 9th team. ND beat Cooper at Cooper 25-14, 25-8 and that was with ND's First Team All-State middle sitting out hurt. Jags could beat Holy Cross or Villa - both are private but hardly "pedestal" teams.

I haven't been impressed with the officiating all year. Some of these guys/gals seem confused on what to call and who to give the point to. They seem very hesitant at times. Not all of them do it but I've seen more of this than not. I think some of them were in training early on but wow. Maybe there is a shortage of officials because I have not seen some of the ones I've seen the last 8 years. :idunno:

In previous years, they would signal their call (net, double hit, lift, ball down) and THEN signal which team was awarded the point. This season they are signaling which team is awarded the point FIRST and then their call. That may seem like a small change but after years of doing it one way, there is a split second to think about what they are doing and that split second is the hesitation you are probably seeing for the most part.

The officials were doing that last year as far as awarding the point first. I get when they first started doing it if they make a call and award the point but they are pointing the wrong way and don't have a clue on some of the rules. Not all of them but a majority of them. Tonight I witnessed 2 of the worst ones that I have ever seen. They delayed the game for 10 minutes trying to figure something out and at one point the coach had to explain to them the rules on a substitution. They were terrible for both teams. I know it's a thankless job but some of these guys don't have a clue.

It was a two day event....12 bucks for two day pass. Need new turf for next year! LOL.....thank goodness I know somebody.
