I have watched Henderson play in Lexington, Louisville, and in Covington. He is a very good player. He feeds off of Jefferson and can really excel in transition. I know he is an athlete and I have seen him dunk off a dish from Jefferson by leaping two-footed off the baseline. He sometimes drifts in a half court set. He does have difficulties creating offense from the perimeter with solid defense in front of him. He has not had to rely on his own abilities to create shots. In order to reach his full potential, he will need to develop better ballhandling skills. He is an above average player in his class at the forward spot, no question. However, he could be an "outstanding" guard at 6'1" if he could improve his perimeter game. I believe he will.

I heard the Jenkins kid is something special. I haven't seen him play this year but heard he was a heck of a player in 8th grade at South Oldham and is now starting as a Freshmen at Manual. Is he that good to be considered a Mr.Basketball candidate?

 

Jenkins has tremendous talent as a frosh. From talking to his AAU coach, Jenkins made the jump to the 7th region to play against top talents and teams to improve his game and to gain exposure. According to his coach, he has already started receiving letters and college interest from several D1 schools in different parts of the country. Being that I live in the Cov/Cincy area, I do know that Xavier U has an eye on this kid even if he is only a frosh. This being said and the fact that he is a frosh, Jenkins will still need to continue to develop his overall game and build strength as well just as any underclassman must do. And the answer to your question about being good enough to be considered a Mr. Basketball candidate in the future, he certainly is.

Alot will depend on how Corbin fares on a statewide level and how much pub he can get.

Four kids from Lexington to watch in '08 :

Shelvin Mack 6-1 PG Bryan Station

Michael Sparks 6-4 wing Tates Creek

Vic Moses 6-4 PF Henry Clay

Nathan Novosel 6-5 PF Lex. Catholic

All four are definately ones to watch for. Shelvin Mack is the best of the group. Can flat take people off the drive and can hit shots from the perimeter, may be one of the best on ball defenders in the 11th. Victor Moses is a post player that never relents on the boards. He is sometimes overshadowed by Aaron Dunaway, but Moses always seems to find a way to keep his stat lines impressive. Nathan Novosel is one whose stock has risen quickly since the beginning of the season. He has impressed people with his overall game and fundamentals and consistantly hitting midrange jumpers. He will not be outworked and will go to the hole strong, he plays fearlessly. Have not seen Sparks play this season, but I have heard his name and about his game to know that he is a solid player. Just an opinion, but I would rate these players in the below order.
