Saint Xavier Insider- Week 4

Featured Replies

The Saint Xavier Tigers defeated the Fairdale Bulldogs 50-0 on Friday evening to improve their record to 3-1. They now travel to Cincinnati this Friday to face the Moeller Crusaders(3-0) who beat the Tigers last season 34-27 on their home turf en route to a state championship in Cincinnati.

Offense

Last week the Tigers looked as they should against the Fairdale defense. Walker scored two douchdowns on 5 carries and the starters only played 2 possessions. Nagle remains the starting QB, though he didn't attempt a pass this week so who knows if improvement was made.

Defense

While not giving up any points this week, they still looked suspectible to mobile QBs. When the coverage is great, the pursuit of the defensive line and blitzing LBs still don't look great. Tigers did a better Job of wrapping up and getting hats to the ball this week.

Upcoming Game

This week presents a stiff test for the Tigers. The Moeller Crusaders are 3-0 and have a few advantages over the Tigers. The Crusaders are at home, have a 6'4 WR, and seem to have all their wrinkles out. The Tigers have faced passing offenses all season long and this game won't be much different. Isiah Gentry is a 2 star 6'4 receiver who they like to get the ball too, so to win this game the story is the same: get off the field on third downs and wrap up. Defensively the Crusaders also have a 3 star 6'6 stud in Sam Hubbard. He lines up at linebacker as well as safety depending on the style of offense Moeller is facing. When lined up at safety he lines up about 15 yards back. Moeller's defense does look penetrable so Waler will have ample opportunities to meet Hubbard in the open field. All in all I look for both squads to score points and the victor being the one who wins the turnover battle.

Good post. From an offensive standpoint this week, don't turn the ball over and convert 3rd downs. From a defensive stand point, tackle and get off e field on 3rd down.

That was speculation. This is from MRI results.

I hate this for any athlete. I hope rehab isn't too stressful for this young man.
