BAXTER, Ky. - The hit television show Justified is set in Harlan County, Ky. and at times they have mentioned the local high school sports teams.

The Black Bears, ranked No. 3 in Class 5A, hosted the Belfry Pirates on Friday night in Harlan County. The Pirates went into the game ranked No. 2 in Class 3A.

The final score justified Belfry’s lofty ranking as they whipped Harlan County 21 to 12 to give the Black Bears (2-1) their first loss of the season.

The Pirates improved to 2-0 with the win over an eastern Kentucky power.

Harlan … 6 6 0 0 - 12

Note: Austin Hatfield's stats are incorrect in the article, he actually had 12 carries for 53 yards. And they were hard-earned yards too as the fullback rushing into the middle of the Black Bear defense.

I like that headline. That was a very good win for Belfry.

Someone forgot to take off the 40 yard TD run that was called back with a phantom flag.Hatfield earned his yardage.. HC was attacking the A Gap with ferosity...a lesser man may not have even had 20 yards rushing from the FB spot Friday and those 50 or so yards are a big reason Belfry got over 250 yards from the other backfield positions.

Austin Hatfield is a MAN.
