Going into week three of the season the tigers are a perfect 2-0 in the record book. But the play on the field has Been less than perfect. Heading into what has been dubbed as "game of the year in Kentucky" the tigers still have multiple questions that need to be answered; the biggest question being: can we stop the pass? The question regarding could the tigers pass the ball seems to have been answered this past game against Lex Cath, with Nagle completing 13 of his 28 attempts with one of those being a 75 yard td pass.

 

Offense

Last week the tigers rushed for over 200 yards and scored 5 rushing tds behind the legs of Davis an Walker. Davis picked up the slack for the missing Percell with 3 rushing tds and Walker added in 2 rushing tds and 45 yards receiving. Although te passing game is coming along, it's only the 3rd week of the season and it still has room to improve. The receivers dropped multiple balls this week.

 

defense

The defense once again attempted a bend but don't break approach as far as the scoreboard is concerned. The pressure was on Reese Ryan all night long and forced him into throwing 2 interceptions. While the defense played decent in pass coverage, they still had trouble getting off the field on third down situations, giving up touchdown passes of 76,25, and 40 on third down respectively. The run D was stout again only giving up 78 yards on the ground. Collectively it was a great effort by the tiger D, barring the long td passes. The Tiger D gave up 21 points, forced 2 turnovers and prevented the lex Cath offense from putting together long productive drives.

 

special teams

In short special teams definitely improved from week one to week two. This past week the tigers were a perfect 7/7 on extra point attempts which is an improvement from the first week. The kickoff coverage unit needs some tuning after giving up a 99 yard kickoff return. The return unit looked stellar countering lex Cath by returning a kickoff for a td.

 

All in all the tigers improved from the 1st game but more improvement is needed if they expect to keep that clean record slate. This week the tigers host the bowling green purples, who have beaten X the past 2 seasons. In 2011 X was leading 14-7 at the half and went on to fall 31-28 and in 2012 the tigers were winning 23-13 at the half and fell 38-30. Although this tigers team is much more talented then those last 2 squads BG faced, we can expect a barn burner because the purples excel in the one area the tigers need the most work. Hard and Fant may arguably be the best qb-wr tandem in the state. No doubt Fant is the best receiver in the state, so if the purples have the ball for too long, one can expect the purples to score some points. Two big questions I have are: will te purples be able to slow down the tiger rushing attack, and will the tigers get off the field on Third down?

I guesss Charle Walker will be playing a lot of defense tomorrow night. How is Treyveon? If he plays that will help the offense and let Walker play more defense especially with Fant coming to town.

Foot was still a little swollen and sore on Monday, he's since been practicing and is going to play.

Birdie was wrong. Everyone is playing and walker will see more time on D than the previous two weeks. He also will be seen at multiple positions on D.

That birdie stands corrected. Glad to hear that everyone will be as close to healthy as possible!
