Mercer County 35 Boyle County 0 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

Ok so lets ask the question, how is the talent level for this year's freshman team?

No clue. I don't know any freshmen parents nor do I know anyone who attends freshmen games so I honestly couldn't tell you. I do know that Boyle County varsity should never be judged on what their freshmen or JV teams do. The varsity team will have the best players in the program on it regardless of grade. The starting varsity QB is a sophomore who played QB and WR for varsity last season and the starting varsity RB who is a senior has been getting varsity carries since his freshman year. Neither played much freshmen football at all. I can't take freshmen results( and JV results) seriously if the best freshmen or sophomores aren't allowed to play because they are needed elsewhere in the program.

IMO, it's a talent wane. There is still talent at Boyle but not the level of their best years and not the depth either. Every program goes through those years. (Even the mighty Birds had such dips in the early 80's and from '01 to '04 :lol2:)

It happens. When you say "the bottom is falling out" is when those records become 5-7, 4-8, or even 6-5.

Exactly!!!

I can't say the bottom is falling out when they are losing to teams that are known statewide to be better than them. Highlands, John Hardin, LexCath(twice).

Ok, we just see it differently.

Your expectations are way too high. Not winning state every season doesn't indicate the bottom is falling out. It means the competition caught up or is better. Off the top of my head I can't remember them losing to anyone they shouldn't have lost to. Were those teams in 2009-2010 the best Boyle County teams of the last 6 years? Sure. Is the bottom falling out? Not even close.
