Knott County Central's Camron Justice has eye of Louisville basketball's Rick Pitino

Featured Replies

Knott County Central’s Camron Justice has made the University of Louisville’s list.

The 6-foot-2 All-State shooting guard impressed U of L coach Rick Pitino so much at the Nike EYBL’s Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., over the weekend that Pitino told him in a phone conversation Saturday night that the Cardinals will begin recruiting him.

Justice, playing with the Kentucky-based Travelers club, said, “I was excited to hear from an in-state school like that. ...(Pitino) said being an in-state kid like that, he didn’t want to pass up a player with the ability of mine to shoot the ball, or to miss out on that.”

Pitino has not offered Justice, who is in the Class of 2015, a scholarship but told him the Cards would continue evaluating him, likely watching his games with the Travelers later this month at a tournament in Kansas City, Mo. He also invited Justice for a U of L visit once school begins.

Justice, who averaged 25.5 points per game last season and is also a strong defender, likes U of L’s pressing, up-tempo style, which he said is similar to what he’s used to playing with Knott.

“He said I just brought energy to the floor that he liked and that I just made huge plays,” Justice said.

Justice has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Morehead State and Alabama-Birmingham.

This is excellent news. How excited he must've been to get a call from Pitino. Hope he gets to play for him, but even if he doesn't, just getting the call alone is something he can be proud of forever.

Good for him. With 2 more years to play more offers will come in.

You can see Camron Justice in the 1st King of the Bluegrass SHOWCASE. Also UL and UK recruit Luke Kennard from Franklin City, Ohio.

The dates will January 31 and February 1, 2014.
