I'm well aware, it just seems odd to me that Dusty would do that given his reluctance to use Mesoraco or Hanigan (both of which are the most serviceable bat off the bench) as a pinch hitter. Wouldn't you agree?

Wouldn't you agree? I would, but I also don't think he wants to have another LH bat in the lineup against a lefty, and Meso does give him more pop than if he had used Izturis as the DH. The team is too LH right now.
