Before I start I would just like to give a BIG SHOUT of THANKS to Coach Andy Petridis and his entire staff for getting the field ready this evening. :ylsuper: When we arrived at 4:00 it was still raining, however Coach Petridis and drew were out on the field pushing off the water. Knowing the the band of storms was out of the area they were determined to get this game in. They raked quite alot of areas and then put down some Diamond Dry, they even had a parent run to the store to buy a few bags of Kitty Litter. Once this was raked in they brought out the tractor and tragged the field, which ended up being in unbelievable playing condition. The 1st pitch was delayed until 6:00. Don't know too many coaches that would go to this much trouble to get a game in, but EXCELLENT job gentleman. Also, thanks to NewCath's Chris Schreiber who got his shoes dirty helping out as well. :thumb: Nice meeting Rebel91Dad.

Also, it was Senior Night as the Rebels salute lone senior ERIKA STEIN.

Now on to the game. Boone County 7th grader Olivia Jackson, who gets the start in place of Dallis Knotts, throws a 1-hitter. The Breds Casey Kohls hits a solid single to rightcenter in the 1st inning and that's all for the Breds. The Boone Co. "D", especially the infield didn't have to move, every ball hit to them was right at them. Breds starter Sarah Neace goes 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and 8th grader Haley Meyers goes 2 innings allowing 1 run on no hits. The only positive for the Breds in this one......ERROR FREE, excellent defensive game by the girls in this one. Now to the action.

Was Jackson that good or did NCC not really show up? Congrats to Erica Stein on her senior night.

Lawnboy13-question for you. Do you think Meyers should get the nod pitching now? Just curious, and in no way trying to knock Neace, because let's face it with 1 hit you are not gonna win many games anyway.

Sad to see that Erika Stein is close to ending her career. She is and has been a great representative for Boone. Her mom has been like a sister to me since about 1972 so I've known Erika and her twin Karie since they were born. Great, great girls.

Man I'm getting old.

Of course I am not Lawnboy but may be easier for me to answer since he is on the staff. I have seen both pitch a couple of times, IMO Meyers has more upside and if she can put it together will be easily an above avg HS pitcher. Right now though Meyers seems to struggle with her control to often so I think Neace gives them the best shot to win right now.

Got ZERO problem offering my honest opinion, although sometimes to the "chagrin" of NewCath parents. JMU nailed it, however I will say Sarah is probably on a very short "leash".

1. Our biggest problem is we only have a total of 11 varsity players, which includes an 8th grader and 1 frosh. The starters have ZERO worries about being replaced because of lack of hustle or poor play because we have only two bench players, and one can only come into pitch. The lack of competition, for positions, gives some the mentality that they can't or won't be replaced. The JV team, which consists of 9 8th graders and 2 frosh, has quite a few players (the 8th graders) that could easily compete for a position on the varsity.

2. Coach Barnes' "hands are tied", from having 8th graders play any other position but pitcher (The Courtney Sandfoss Rule). From my understanding some of these 8th graders will be dressing varsity the remainder of the season, I guess better late than never, but things will change next year.
