Selection Sunday

Featured Replies

I saw this on an other site and it I thought it was neat to post before tomorrow's selection show for college softball fans. Of course I am hoping that JMU gets in seeing that did not win the conf tourney, Hofstra really has their number but thank goodness Hoftra's pitcher is a senior.

Selection Sunday is just six days away and the last RPI before the NCAA Tournament field is announced was released today. The lastest RPI gives us the best understanding of where teams will stand in the

This was not a straight up copy of the RPI, but as the selection committee has stuck closer to the RPI in the past several years, we tried to as well.

I would not completely rule out the possibility of having a non-national seed host a regional due to location. If that is the case, my best bet would be Hofstra hosting as a two-seed in a Hemstead Regional with a top-16 seed flying in as the top seed of the regional. There are a lot of teams from that area that look like they’ll make it in the tournament this year (Albany, St. Joseph’s, Lehigh and Siena would all be within 200 miles). I wouldn’t count on that happening, but it is a possibility.

One thing is for sure, there will be as many teams flying to a regional this year as ever. Or at least that is what it seems like.

Here is our NCAA Softball bracketology. NOTE: Currently Automatic Bids are projected as the regular season/top conference tournament seed of each respective conference still playing. Conference tournament champions will almost certainly throw a wrench or two in here.

I will take a wild guess and say 8 of the top 10 to 12 pitchers teams in the counrty will make it to Oklahoma City.

Instead of McNeese going to Baton Rouge it will be Northwestern State University from Natchitoches (Nak-a-dish), LA home of the Demons and Steel Magnolias, it is also my grad school alma mater!

I am only guessing they will go to LSU but it makes sense being it is only I think 2 - 3 hours away. When I worked with the softball team there we went to the Seattle, Washington regional. The best time and best memories I had. And let me tell you what you make per diem from the NCAA is ridiculous.

In a good or bad way?

Good. It was like $50 per day. It was ridiculous. This was back in 1998. For the most part you ate the breakfast the hotel served then you were on your own the rest of the day.

Looking forward to the possible Arizona State vs Kentucky in the Super Regionals.

Who wants to go to Knoxville this weekend!

Can we get an office pool going?

Are you going down to Knoxville? I am hoping Michael Lotief can get the Ragin Cajuns playing and upset LSU. I don't see NSU making it out of there. Texas has an easy bracket and once again A&M gets one of the toughest regionals.

Since we are playing it doesn't look like it, unless somehow the schedule works out I may go down to watch a game.

JMU was to play TN late in the season but got rained out probably helped JMU get in. Any of the brackets would have been tough for JMU but TN is a real bad matchup for JMU, the other two teams JMU can play with. Over all one of the weaker brackets.

As a 16 seed A&M should have a tough bracket, that being said if their pitchers show up they can win those games, Zona and Baylor aren't great this year.

Maybe as 16 seed but they had a really tough regional last year as well. Baylor has Canyon (Cannon) but that is about it. Glenn & Brittany are friends with my dad so I would be happy with either Baylor or A&M. Both great teams and coaches.
