Been told over and over again how great he is.

He really is a great player. Unfortunately the attitude that has been shown during some games this year will turn College coaches off him in a heartbeat. I don't think he either understands that or just doesn't want to play at the next level.

 

It's the same as grades. When a college coach has a dozen players to choose from and some have trouble with their grades and some have attitude issues, it makes it very easy for the coaches to narrow down their choices.

It's unfortuante that Maines has never been able to get "right" with his on field attitude. The basketball coach cut him so he didn't have to put up with it and I applaud him for that tough decision as Maines could have helped them. Arlo may have to make the tough decision as well. I'm sure he wants to help the kid anyway he can but at some point the kid has to help himself. It's been posted 2-3 times this year where he was pulled from a game for his behavior. It's not fair to the other players to have to put up with it and wonder if in a big game if you can count on him to be there or not. I feel for Arlo as he is a good guy.

 

 

It was a tough decision for Coach Hicks to cut Maines his junior year because he IS very talented. I think the decision to cut him again his senior year was much easier because astonishingly enough his attitude did not change and in fact, got worse and was on full display at tryouts. It appears that is now the situation in baseball as well. At some point, time to cut bait. Feel for Arlo because I know he has a big heart and wants to help him, but the way Blake has shown him up all year would make one think that perhaps he's had enough.

The benchings clearly haven't modified any behavior.

Complaining to the school.

Blake Maines was officially dismissed from the team this afternoon by Coach Arlo.

Arlo is a great guy and I can see him putting out a helping hand to all of his kids multiple times. This sounds truly beyond Arlo and he needs to seek out professional help. That's what his mom and dad should be worried about instead of being up at the school complaining. JMO!!!

CovCath with the victory improves their record to 18-10 and next play in the Coach Connor Classic which will be held at Dixie and at CovCath.

at 9 am when the player show up they will pull the tarp and drain it to the sewer drain down the first base side. They will then take the huge foam pieces and get the puddles from the outfield......

Good for Arlo. I'm sure it would have been easier to ignore it and let him back on.......Way to stand your ground and teach a larger life lesson.
