KY Track & Field Realignment Proposal

Featured Replies

Contingent on the BOC's approval in July.

5/7/13 ? Draft 2013-2014 Track Alignment (effective July 31, 2013 upon approval of Board of Control at the July 2013 meeting) | Kentucky High School Athletic Association

I'm not sure who all gets realigned. I do know that Mason County goes back into Class 2A Region 4 (NKY) making a 15-school region; after several years in Region 6 (NEKY), which drops to an 11-school region.

I've always said that Mason County is an outlier - not quite NKY, not quite NEKY.

Noticed that Scott High School is 2A in Region 4. I was thinking that Scott was a 3A school. Does anyone know if they have been 2A for a while, or is that new with this realignment?

Back in the day, Scott was 3A. Not sure about in recent years.

Not sure about recent years but the constructs of 2A will be 450-1050. But they've been hovering at or slightly below that 1050 mark.

New alignment moves St. Henry and Walton-Verona up to 2A from 1A. That's good news for the rest of the teams in 1A region 4 as it is loaded with talent. Top to bottom the most completitive region in the state. Its not uncommon for an athelete to finish as low as 10th at region and still qualify for state.

No doubt. The addition of Mason County, St. Henry and W-V will only strengthen it.

If the alignment goes through,it will be a battle in the Region with Highlands and St. Henry girls and boys in Cross Country.
