HC with 6 hits! Tiberi with 3 of them in going 3 for 3 and Callery goes 1 for 3, while the rest of the tribe goes 2 for 22 with 7 K's.

 

Seth Caple goes 3 for 3 with 2 singles and a triple for Dixie.

 

Young Mr. Smallwood K's 7 and does not give up a walk!

HCs Trevor Niehaus lowers his ERA to 1.35 on the year going all the whole way for the Tribe giving up only 5 hits and 1 earned run adding 5 Ks and no walks on only 69 pitches. It was a well pitched game by both Niehaus and young Smallwood. The 2 HC errors led directly to 3 of the 4 runs Dixie runs but that is baseball, Dixie made them pay for the 2 errors and were the better team. Smallwood has a bright future ahead of him. Hats off to you young man.

 

Prior to the game HC staff and team presented Coach Max a signed ball congratulating him on win #600. Max is a class guy who deserves the attention he has gotten this week. Good luck to the Red Colonels in the tourney.

TOG...the fly ball by Capple in the 6th inning has to be scored an error on Hewitt. Ball should have been caught as it went off heel of Hewitts glove when he reached up to catch it.Not sure what view you had but that was a pretty easy scoring decision really.

Indians actually had 3 errors in game after playing solid defense on the year coming into game.

Honestly didn't see it, as I think you saw where I was sitting. Went on the word of a Dixie player but the HC RF had to go a good distance to get to the ball as with the wind blowing and the ball tailing away from him the entire time (IMHO) it wouldn't have been a routine fly ball to catch.

 

Honestly, I would have given him a (*) in my book, noting a very good catch but as I said I lost it behind the Dixie dugout, so I will go with your score book as I know your straight on your scoring, be it your player or one from the other team!

It was clearly an error, yes went a fair distance , but was under the ball and you have to make that play at the high school level. IMO all 4 runs were unearned, 2 in the 1st error on 2b, pickoff attempt allowed the runner to go from 1st to 3rd that led to the 3rd run and the fly ball to right led to the 4th run. Unless I missed something and the 1st run was earned.

Dixie book scored it an error as well as the boxscore they called into paper had Capple 2-3. I agree Minnesota on his post. Again well pitched game by both sides. The Smallwood kid was solid in his first start. It should also be noted that it was only the 2nd varsity start on the bump for Niehaus.

 

Clyde, it was a nice moment for me to be able to show a small token of our appreciation and congratulations for Coach Max. 600 is quite an accomplishment. He does things the right way and is a class act.
