The fact that Madyson Moran probably will not be mentioned in Miss Softball voting, or be 1st team All State (never has been All State), is a travesty. No wonder, with only FOUR 9th Region head coaches members of the KSCA. If I am not mistaken, the dues to join are in the $10-$20 per year range. Moran is one of the few girls in Kentucky that will ever get FULL athletic scholarship to a Division 1 school for softball. There is a reason she has been playing for one of the top travel ball organizations the past couple of years, the Beverly Bandits. And I find it odd that once Haylee Smith no longer regularly pitched at Ryle, you seemed to never hear her name. Folks, Smith will also probably playing softball at the D1 level as a postion player and possibly a pitcher too. The NKY softball culture is behind many parts of the state and will continue to be until the culture changes. Is this the due to holding onto slow pitch longer than the rest of the state?

 

There are plenty of other girls in the area besides Maddy and Haylee that should at least be mentioned for different awards. I understand over all there is better softball in the Louisville area and in Western part of the state but it's not that much better. If schools like Ryle, Connor, NDA (this year) where down in those areas they would still compete for the region, they might not win it as much as they do up here but they would be in the mix year in and year out.

 

It's to late for players like Maddy, Grace Herrman and Noelle Butts but I would hope coaches get more involved and it helps some of the younger girls in NKY bc we have some very talented girls that can play in the area.

 

I know coaches always are going to promote there own players and I respect that but only if its close. If you just vote for your player and you know other players are clearly better that makes you a jack off. No disrepect to the girls in the preseason poll but its real bad. I have heard only 1 coach voted, so that kinda tells you that 1 coach is either clueless or something else that would probably get me banned if I say it.

 

Maybe it's like this in other areas but sure seems like in NKY we do not want any players to do well, see the basketball thread people are always bashing players like Bolden and Hatton saying what they can't do. Those are two of the very few players that will get a chance to play at the D1 level.

 

I hope all the girls do well and I hope the sport of softball grows in the area, sometimes I just wonder if it ever will.
