This was the final from Cooper from what I hear! No details, wasn't at the game.

Cooper used 4 pitchers with Dunn starting and faced the minimum 6 batters in two innings. Doerman threw 2 inn, Collin Smith 2 inn and Lawhorn threw 1 inning. The Cooper pitchers threw strikes and the big difference from last year is their defense had zero errors. Cooper was the home team and did leave about 10 runners on over their 6 inning's of at bats.

 

St Henry threw 3 pitchers I believe but I do not know their names. A couple of lefty's that threw mainly curve or off speed pitches.

I like the approach of getting innings for multiple pitchers.

A solid win by the Jags. Junior pitcher Hunter Dunn started and faced 6 batters allowing no hits and struck out 3. Jason Doerman came in and pitched a solid game. Jake Lawhorn got the save. The Jags were led at the plate by Senior CF Nick Carr who went 2 for 3 with a single, triple, and a walk along with 2 stolen bases.

It was a great way to start the season for the Jags. Playing a team that has already had a couple games under their belts was a good measuring stick for the Jags to see where they are at this early in the season. The pitching was great, Hunter Dunn was UN-hitable....literally for the 2 innings he pitched and the rest of the pitchers, Doerman, Smith and Lawhorn finished the job. The defense was error free and the hitting was decent for the first game of the year and should only get better. Nick Carr absolutely crushed the ball as the lead off hitter and should make a great lead off hitter this year for the Jags. A couple injuries kept 2 of the starters from the field but when they get back they should make the defense even that much better. Should be a fun season.....if the weather lets them play anymore games this year

I think Cooper has what it takes to contend for the regional title. If they get back the 2 injured players and stay healthy the rest of the year I think it will come down to Conner and Cooper. What do you think?

Ryle should be a very good team. I believe they haven't even played their first game yet. They have all the intangibles to contend; well at least from what I see on paper. I've seen most of the kids on the team play summer ball and they have a whole lot of talent in all aspects of the game.. Lonnemann has a very solid glove and though its hard to replace a Leiff Clarkson he should do a solid job a short. Baumann and tyler Mason are back to provide some solid offense, and Raines, deters, Forbes, Plvan, Ashley, Brennan, etc should be very solid as well. Their pitching with Hoard, Bellew, Pulice, See, and I saw on here Tyler Mason is pitching again this year and last time I saw him throw he had a great off speed and major velocity; I'm not sure how he's developed but he should provide solid innings this year.Ryle should be very well off. Boone county is a solid team that no one should take lightly. Ganns when he is on is very solid, but I'm not sure how their offense will produce now that Teegarden is gone. This is no way just a cooper and Conner region. It's up for grabs, and in my opinion the best district in NKY.

No, your right. Should be a fun year! It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Can't wait. Now, it just needs to warm up a bit so they can get some games in!

The district is tough without a doubt, but I'm giving Conner and Cooper the nod to get to the Regionals. Conner can flat hit the ball and I think the only pitching staff that can stop them would be Cooper's. No disrescpect to Ryle or Boone they do have Hoard and Ganns, but the rest are unproven at this time. Hoard is really the only legitimate returning starter for Ryle and Ganns from Boone. Cooper has 3 legitimate starters returning. I think offensively Ryle and Cooper are about the same. Baumann flat strokes it just like Collins can for Cooper. JMO!

I think it's a coin toss between Ryle, Cooper and Conner.

 

Cooper has what it takes to win....on paper. It's just a matter of proving it on the diamond. It really reminds me of their football team. Last year was the first time they ever beat Conner at Football and this year was the first time they ever beat Boone and Ryle.

 

The Baseball team has that same monkey on their back and until they can go out there and beat those teams then they still have a lot to prove. Hopefully this is the year. Deffinatley have the talent, now it's time to go out and prove what they are capable of doing.

Ganns from Boone, Smiley from Conner, and Dunn are all being scouted and all can be shutdown pitchers. So far 3 other pitchers for Conner have left nothing but zeros for the opposing hitters. Smith and Collins have both shown well early. Engram from Boone pitched well for a win in Louisville. Ryle's pitching is the unknown in the group. Conner's hitters have proven production from last yr. Baumann from Ryle and Collins will be exspected to carry the offensive loads and it depends if others can step up on their teams. Can Dunn and Fussinger offensively produce? Plyvan and T. Mason? For me, Conner is the front runner by a good step so far.
