March 26, 201313 yr Thoughts from episode 4: - Not sure I like how they handled the beheading of John the Baptist (not true to what is in Mark 6). - Barabbas seemed to have a bigger role than expected. - Saw Martha and Lazarus, but not Martha's sister, Mary. - I'm pleased with how they showed some of the miracles of Jesus (healings, feeding the 5000, walking on the water, etc.) - I know they skip over a lot for time, but they are fitting a lot of Jesus stories in a short period of time. - I thought I would be disappointed with the way they would handle the Last Supper, but I ended up being VERY pleased...what a great presentation of the first Eucharist! - Do the same Pharisees follow Jesus everywhere? On the other hand, Caiaphas was very believable. - Finally, there was that "Obama" guy again when Judas was betraying Jesus!:troll: Haven't seen it yet but here's some thoughts on your points. *Barrabas always seems to play a bigger role in Hollywood. (See the Robe, or Jesus of Nazareth) *Short period of time is like you said, compression for times sake. However the Synoptic gospels really present Jesus' ministry as more like a year or a little over in terms of time. John's gospel and tradition are the reasons we think of 3 years because John has Jesus going to Jerusalem three times. Will sit down and watch it all when it's finally in a one time format I guess. :thumb:
