9th region question: Besides Moran and Smith, are there any girls with a realistic chance of securing D1 schollies?

As a parent of a young lady (Junior) that wants to play at the next level.

What are the most important features to show on a skills video? Obviously the coaches will be able to watch a girls swing and tell whether she drops her hands or pulls her head! Do you include arm strength? Radar guns? When your showing speed do you include a stop watch? What do they want to see times from: home to first? Home to second? First to third etc... What else do theyb want to see?

I understand about the stats at high school level or even travel ball especially when you read some of the daddy ball posts on here where the girls all hit .400!

I do not know any of the younger girls in the area from the 9th, seems like a lot more girls are trying to play summer ball so sooner or later there will be if there isn't already now.

I would focus on your kids strenghs what ever they may be. I think ever coach is different so I would just watch some on you tube and kinda do what ever one you like best. If you do say hitting only and a coach wants to see more they will ask then do what ever they ask and send it to them.

For me personaly I like one that focus on hitting, I have seen really good defense players that do videos and they don't seem to really show how good they are. That doesn't mean some coaches don't like it or want it bc they may be looking at fundementals.

This may be helpful for some, again this is only my opinion, but I will list in order what I believe most coaches are looking for.

Pitchers that throw 70 mph

Power hitters

Hitters that hit for high avg and steal bases

Catchers

Short Stops

Then best athlete

Funny you say shortstops, I had a friend who was recruited to A&M by Bob Brock. She was a SS and so were the other 6-7 signees that year. She kept telling everyone she was playing SS at A&M and soon she was transitioned to outfielder and HATED it. She eventually quit after 2 years because she was not going to play the OF.

Did not mean to go off on a tangent but when I saw SS it made laugh thinking about my friend.

Seems like schools have gotten away from that a little bit over the last couple of years but there is still more SS's that get recruited than any other position.

And it's not funny bc that could happen to my kid!! I don't think it will bc that is by far her strength but it could and she knows it so I guess we will see.

At least she knows going in it could happen to her. Our summer ball coaches kept telling her she will be playing OF and she just kept saying noooooooo!

I've heard they were looking for:

Pitchers 65+ good movement

SS with speed and athletic can always turn into OF

Power hitters

Catchers

OF

CI

They all want 65 mph plus pitchers, all levels want them just not a lot of them out there.

Hoping my DD can pick up a few and get to 65

Even if she don't and her spins and location are good she can still be very productive. One of the best pitchers we have ever played with doesn't thow 65 mph but she gets out more than her share of hitters. I believe Rachel Riley from UK who had a great 4 years at UK only was around 60 to 62 mph.

DD has been gunned at BSA at 61-62 looking for a good HS and Travel season. TPS Premier 16U is currently entered in TN Exposure, Scenic 16, Atlanta Legacy, & Eastern Elite Showcase.

I am not familier with 2 of the tourney's but I am sure they are good, but I know your kid will get a ton of exposure from the 2 in bold, the scenic city 16's was my favorite tourney outside of the Demarini and nationals.
