Central starters scored all but two of its points en route to an overtime victory against St. Xavier in the Seventh Region matchup. This was a rematch of last year's regional semifinal that was won by St. X.

 

For the Yellowjackets, Stuart Jackson had 13 points, Domonique Chandler 14, Dominique Sanford 15 and Jamie Johnson 17. At 6'4", Jackson was the tallest player on the floor for Central and surrendered significant height to St. Xavier center Brock Kielser at 6'9". Nevertheless, Kiesler fouled out with a minute left in regulation and so never saw the floor in OT.

I knew St. X was way overrated in the BGP pre-season rankings at No. 7. Outside of Kiesler, I am not sure they have anybody that puts fear in the opponents eyes.

Preseason rankings don't mean much. Hard to get a quality preseason ranking based off of scrimmages and secondhand information.

Scary good. It's a real shame that didn't work out. They'd be squarely in that conversation with Ballard and Trinity as likely Seventh Region title contenders.
