How will Coach Letton do in his first year?

Featured Replies

I do not believe he was ever fired from Prestonsburg. The one thing that Prestonsburg and Lexington Catholic has (and has a lot of) that Montgomery does not have is support. At Montgomery County, it seems the parents want to run the program, the administration could care less, and the players listen to their parents instead of the coaches. Coach Rains did a great job there under the conditions and so did Coach Letton given the situation. Montgomery County has not had a great program since the merger around 1970. Mt. Sterling had a great program. I believe Coach Letton will do a great job and wish him the best.

Look for LexCath to have a tough defense.

Wasn't he fired at Prestonsburg?

No... He resigned. The exact particulars don't need to be discussed here, but a small group of veteran "players" did something that resulted in their being expulsed from the team. As the "something" came to public knowledge, some held that the coach's actions weren't enough.

Long story short; it became impossible for him to continue as the Blackcat Coach amid the controversy. It was a very harsh time for Coach Letton and his family.

1995 was also a VERY rough time for Prestonsburg Football.
