Thats the thing with HS basketball...you never know one night to the next. Its funny. Lee beat us by only 3 at home and it was a sloppy game. We faced them in the Johnson County tourney and thought, well, we are better than them and should win, and they cleaned our clocks and beat us by 9 (could've been a lot worse, we were lucky). Lee county, IMO, along with Estill, have a true shot at this regional title. Look out for the 56th in the future.

 

Wow, the way I understand it, in the second Lee vs. Estill game, Estill was up 11 in the first half when their starting point guard was injured. Then 2 starters sat almost the entire 2nd half for disciplinary reasons. Factor in late free throws, and that is hardly a clock cleaning.

Athletic Diriector was unhappy with the losing streak and was looking to take it out on someone, so he chose Adam IMO. The AD should have his position assessed because Dials did nothing to deserve the severity of the punishment. It was not the coaches decision, it was the AD's, sad situation in KNott County, the people in power enjoy throwing their weight around and do not care about the kids.

 

I do not know who made what decisions with regard to the Dials boys. I do personally know the AD in Knott County on both a personal and professional level. Anyone who would make the above comments about him obviously does not know him at all. He has devoted his entire adult life to working with the kids there in Knott County. Maybe you should take a vote from the boys who have played on his past teams and see how many of them think he doesn't care about kids. He has practically raised several of those boys. Get your facts straight!

Education of the students should always be first. Sports may get you a scholarship, but you better have the grades to back it up, or you're going to lose that scholarship. You can't change coaches every two years and expect a team to turn around in a wink. Every coach has a different perception on what needs to be done and how he/she will get it done. Look at the girls team, for example. One coach was there for more than 4 years. He done pretty good, IMO.

 

It takes time. If an 8th grader plays for the boys basketball or football teams, more than likely, by the time he graduates, he'd played for 3 different coaches. KCC needs to get a new AD if they want to be successful in the future. Plain and simple. The AD is not the coach. He shouldn't be punishing players and putting players in a starting position. That is the coach's job. Let the coach do his job.

Now Knott has a Little League going and the right people are in charge of it. And it is successful. They had more teams this past season than the AABC did in it last two years. Why is it successful? Because the president makes decisions based on what will benfit the kids. The kids are first and foremost getting to play. And if they were to have 200 kids that wanted to play, all would. Who was the then president of the AABC league? You should know.

During the LCC game the Superintendant and and coaching staff from LCC were being verbally aggressive towards Dials, and he retaliated. Should he have been suspended, yes, but to say that he should be dismissed fro taking up for himself is crazy IMO. As far as getting my story straight, maybe you should take off the blinders and then you may see the truth.

Oh, say so you first blame the administration in Knott County for his actions during the Phelps game and now you blame the administration in Letcher County for his actions in that game. I would present you with the long list of dates and incidents that have happened in the past, but you would only find someone else to blame each and everyone on. It's time for everyone to stop blaming others for their actions and accept responsibility for he does himself. Maybe you should share with everyone the history that you have had that has resulted in the sour grapes that you keep crying over. It's obvious that your comments have absolutely nothing to do with whether the Dials boy stays or goes. I went back and read many of your past posts and your comments in this area were out of line long before this issue ever came up. Could it be that you have child that just didn't make the team in the past!!!
