The Tigers take the rubber match in the NewCath season series and get some measure of revenge for last night's loss. I apologize for not having names for some of the numbers in the report. New Cath had several missing jersey numbers on their roster. Here are game details for you:

New Cath scored on a 6 minute + opening drive when their QB #8 (no name on roster) scored on a 1 yard QB sneak. The extra point was no good. 6-0 Breds with 3:48 to go. Beechwood wasted no time on their first drive. QB Hunter Spahn hit Jalen Hayden on a 76 yard TD pass. The extra point by Jeremy Burns made it 7-6 Tigers at the 2:37 mark. The Breds next drive went into the second quarter but ended in a punt.

After the Breds punt, the Tigers struck quickly again when Spahn hit Hayden with a 49 yard TD pass on their second play, 14-6 Tigers 7:54 to go in the second quarter. The Breds responded with a quick 64 yard drive of their own. Freshman Dylan Powell (incorrect # on roster) scored on a 5 yard run, then QB#8 scored on the 2 point try,14-14 at 6:44. The Tigers offense was having no trouble at all moving the ball. RB Joe Studer capped a 53 yard drive with a 15 yard TD run, the XP was no good, 20-14 Tigers at 4:15. The Breds had a solid drive but were forced to punt. The Tigers had the ball at their own 19 with 1:18 to go. On the first play of the possession, Studer went 81 yards for the score. The 2 point try was no good and it was 26-14 Tigers as we went to half time.

The Tigers received the second half kickoff and struck quickly again. Studer took a pitch and threw a half back pass to Hayden for a 64 yard TD reception. Studer converted the 2 point try and it was 34-14 just 16 seconds into the half. The Breds went 3 and out. The Tigers started grinding it out on the ground but the long drive fell short of scoring when the Breds stopped them at the 9.

The Breds next drive extended into the fourth quarter but ended in a punt. The Tigers were not done. Spahn ran a bootleg play 42 yards for another Tiger TD and it was clear this game was over. The Tigers backups added another score when Jack Talley scored from 21 yards out. That capped the scoring. Final score Tigers 48-14.

Glad to see the JV Tigers finish the year with a big win, eases the wounds of a bad loss last night....just a little.
